Copyrights are an issue for cover tunes. And there were some in the mix. But I wouldn't worry about that for discs sold to our group. I also wouldn't worry about discs sold to people who were in the audience. But I wouldn't put discs up on CD Baby or some on-line advertisement place (the gazette ?) without permission of copyrights. Though the paper could use a clip from the performance and say "contact Gene Backlin @ Idiot Jam Productions dot com if you want to purchse a copy of the show."
For my part, my tunes are my tunes, and I relinquish any rights to this performance to Mr. Gene for whatever purpose he's got in mind.
Though I'm hoping to get a couple clips I can put up on YouTube without Gene sigging a pack of lawyers on my sorry posterior. (I'd love to give him video/recording credits on that).

I was thinking the same thing -- posting videos on my site. Although I have to see the videos first. If it's ok with Gene, I'll be posting them either way, but if I'm not happy with my performance, I think I'm going to say they're videos of Marshall.

Marshall, I am hoping to get to the video this weekend, tonight and tomorrow is shot because I am recording 3 tenors in concert for a tribute to Pavarotti and tonight is the rehearsal and tomorrow is the concert. I will keep you posted.

When I get yours completed, I will let you preview them...

No, sorry, that's not what I meant. You're free to do anything you like with my audios and videos, including posting here without any kind of preview from me, and hopefully, to make some money somewhere along the line for yourself. No preview by me is required.
What I said earlier was meant as a joke, sort of. I'm hoping that I'll want to post a copy of the video of me on my site, provided that it's ok with you.

I can't wait to see the videos of you all but I'm especially waiting breathlessly to see if Jim Fay really ever DOES smile when he sings! I've never seen it happen.

It was just lovely to hear your song again Gene. What a beautiful job you did, and that is a very nice recording of it I might add. Thanks for posting all these great memories......

I agree with Kari. Well done, Gene. That was special.
How come that's the first time I've heard you sing in the 6 years or so I've been blessed with your acquaintance.
Marshall, before your ChiJam, the last time I performed in public was in 1974. 74 was also the last time I sang in public. In the late 60's I was in small local bands and more seriously in the 70's I was part of a number of bands touring the Wisconsin and Illinois area. IdiotJam is really the only time I ever perform, and truthfully the recording effort really takes most of my concentration, and every year I really have a hard decision to make if I am going to play or not. I have always enjoyed performing but I really don't want anything to screw up the recording.
Anyone who needs a "break" from all the serious discussion and "ills" of the day can certainly get a feel-good breather by listening to the great music our friends here can play and sing when they are not debating!
Y'all make some beautiful music together!! These really are quality recordings, Gene...you've done your friends proud!!!
