Jeff lives on the Mass./R.I. border and is a marvelously talented singer/songwriter and guitarist who has recently retired from his police officer job and is now going after music-making as his livelihood. Judging from this song, he will do well indeed. We met online in one music discussion group or another, I forget. We've traded e-mails and mp3s back and forth for quite a while now. Please give a listen and offer feedback -- I am gonna invite him over here later on... download.yousendit.com/59FC80DD6DF48191 More clips and bio information, etc., are to be found at: www.jeffmaher.com

Went to his website to see why Bill liked the guy (other than the fact that he is good).
This is a blurb from the site.
"Some of the players I have been inspired by, and stolen from, since 1969: Jeff Beck; John McLaughlin; George Benson; Tommy Emmanuel; Steve Howe; Jimmy Page; Jimi Hendrix; Charlie Christian; Joe Pass; James Moody; Charlie Parker; Sting; James Taylor; Beatles; Stevie Wonder; SRV; Eric Clapton; Gray Sargent; Mike Stern; Tim O'Brien; Bela Fleck; Randy Roos; Lou Xifaris; Steve Vai; Lenny Luzitano; Greg George; Gilbert Hanson; Marc Ritter; Benny and the 1938 Sextet; Weather Report; ...Yanni and Esteban. "
I'm not making that up. Yanni and Esteban. Now I understand Bill's glee. Just what we need, another Esteban fan.

I would have guessed that he had listed Bill as one of his favorites.

Go to Jeff's website and listen to his "No One Around" -- the guitar solo at the end will have you laffing aloud, I predict (laffing with admiration, I mean!)....

Drad,
That's how it starts!! Oh, yes! You know how it goes. Some day soon, we'll find a Fender medium pick under the couch when we all KNOW Hammond uses lite picks. We'll rationalize it with "oh, maybe Bill got one in a package of lite picks by mistake."
Yeah, ok but then THEN we'll find the wrapper to a set of D'Addario phosphor bronze strings when we KNOW Hammond uses Martins. Again, in a deep state of denial, we'll say, "Well maybe one of his friends at the music store asked him to try these."
Then it will happen, shattering any sense of normalcy we held on to no matter how desperately. That moment when our worst fears are realized..... Some where, some how, some body will find a picture of Bill Hammond playing an Esteban over the damn bridge - with a formite from another bulletin board - in the NUUUUDE!!

I like the sorta jazzy feel about the mp3. That's sorta where I think I should go. But haven't gotten off my butt and done anything about it.
James Taylor like in musicality. (him not me)

Marvelously talented? Then why would he want to hang around here? Welcome Jeff! That's quite a diverse repetoire you have. Hope to catch you in liverly (<-- just for Hammond) performance someday.
