In North America we are becoming a stupid uneducated angry mob. What we need is to legislate us some pitchfork and torch control laws!

It's not the lumping that's the problem, but the assigning of traits to everything inside the lump. As anyone knows who has more than glanced at horse droppings, not all lumps are composed of the same stuff throughout. (There are amusing and rhetorically useful ways of extending that metaphor, but my work here is done.) But Russell, agreeing with you that politicians are horse droppings does it make any difference what the BS horse S is composed of?

If I understand horse metabolism correctly, the horse found some good in what went into the droppings, and even left some of it intact on the way through. The flies and sparrows certainly get some good from it. And then there are the jobs created by the need to move the product to a place where it can be reprocessed and redistributed.

Congress is full of people we put there. (Irony follows.) Not that we could make a mistake, or misunderstand the basic facts all congress-people have to come to grips with. We know that we can have all the government we need without really having to pay for it. (Irony ends.) Yeah, sure. If we want to grasp the basic problem with modern American politics, we need a mirror.

Finally.....after three years in here I have figured out that the best time to come into threads like this is to wait until page 11 or at leaast 200+ posts are up. Then it's past the real heated hardcore arguing and getting to the off-the-wall, silly, stuff that I find way more entertaining. .

Doug, you taught science, so you know the deal--no metabolism without shit. True but in most cases we don't let shit be our rulers.
