Good morning. Hope you feel better, Paul. My combat zone illnesses were generally self (Scotch) induced but I guess that's not an option over there.
Yesterday's golf story though. It never did warm up or clear yesterday so I played 9 damp and cold holes. As one other guy and I were going to the first tee, we were joined by 2 others, then another and another which makes for a slow moving 6-some but we weren't in a hurry anyway. A few holes in we were joined by another guy, making a seven-some. This last guy, younger and kind of cocky said he was practicing because he was going to play the Arnold Palmer course south of here this week. For reference, there are 4 tee positions at each hole from which to start. Closest to the hole is the ladies tee, farther back the old-guy's tee where I start, farther back the standard tee where regular golfers start and then even farther back the "Pro" tee. This last guy was going to hit from the "Pro" tee. He took a mighty swing and the ball hooked left and mightily struck a tree which returned the ball about 100 yards behind him. Since you are supposed to play the ball where it lies, he walked back to it and hit another mighty drive, which struck another tree and sent the ball even farther left into the adjacent fairway. Still cocky but feigning laughter at himself, he went to the ball and swung again. hit another tree and was in the trees between the 2 fairways with no real avenue out so he had to just hit the ball out toward the original fairway and it landed on the ladies tee. So, on a par 4 hole he was lying 4 on the ladies tee. I love it when pride comes before a fall. I love it even more when my tee shot went straight down the middle, my second shot was just short of the green. I chipped on and made the putt for par. Kids, gotta love 'em.

Good morning ... snow started at 4:30 AM. Forecast says 3 to 5" but we often get our own weather here so we shall see.

Good morning... we have achieved a shovelable amount of snow in Minneapolis. I can't say with certainty, but I would assume the same has occurred in St. Paul.

Good Morning Good People
No snow, just cold and gray. Dawn is under the weather, so no church today. Off to GC at noon. For some reason, everyone wants their guitars restrung on Sunday, which would be a pleasant diversion from my task of maintaining the used electrics, which are dominated by metalhead machines with pointy headstocks.
Have a serene Sunday one and all.

Bruce, time to buy the t-shirt that says "Old guys rule."
Yesterday's trip to Tucson went smoothly. We hadn't seen our friends in maybe 2 years, even though they only live 100 miles away. After lunch and shopping, we got home around 6:00 PM and I called my Mom. I had called her earlier during the morning's drive and talked briefly. Between calls, she had a minor kitchen accident and had to have stitches in her thumb. Sigh! This kind of thing is becoming too frequent. Even she is saying that she might need to move to assisted living.

Snow and lots of it. Don't know how much we are going to get but for today I'm going to hunker down and stay put. Later I may drag a extension cord out to the shed and get the snow blower fired up.
I just finishing up some of this years string winders, photos in For Sale for those that are interested.

Snow on snow on snow here, at least 6 inches on the ground and we're likely to get at least 3 more inches, then the temp is sposed to drop and the winds are sposed to pick up. I'm gonna stay inside until it makes sense to shovel, so I don't have to do it twice!
Fortunately, I have lotsa food and drink.
Sad news out of the Dallas Cowboys camp -- two players in a speeding Benz hit a curb and flip at 2 in the morning, killing the passenger. The driver, who was drunk, now faces a felony manslaughter charge ...

Bill is being optimistic, according to reports I've heard. 12 to 15 inches when all is said and done, blizzard conditions for afternoon and tonight... ack...

G'mornin' - yes it's still morning here on the rainy left coast. Slept in, then went to the folks to do chores, then back home to do more chores. Watching the Steelers play nasty football against the Chargers. I must say I'm not missing MN weather right now

This is why I often tee off with a 3 fairway wood. I can at least control the aim. Yesterday wasn't my best day out there. The day before, at the driving range, I was hitting everything surprisingly well, not a slice in the whole bucket. The next morning, full of confidence, I couldn't seem to hit anything (I attribute it to general aches and stiffness which was ruining my timing and turning). I hit a drive off the toe of the driver and it shot about 45 degree right, landing in a pond. The driver went back into the bag for the rest of the round.
