Swan Jam is back!! Larry and I, along with Fiddlerina and Dub, Marshall and Kari, will be celebrating our Third Annual Swan Jam this summer, the weekend of the 27th of July in Owen Sound. Everyone is welcome - we have accommodation in the lovely house next door courtesy of our dear neighbours, and depending on whether they can be here that weekend, we have room for a few more. There is also tenting in the garden, a space in the loft for the hardy, and a room in the house. We would love to see you. Do consider it! Some of you aren't so far away as all that, right? It is very casual, on a much smaller scale than Idiot Jam. We basically sit around and play music, take a photography tour and eat. What could be better?

My lovely wife, who will be away in California with our daughter, is encouraging me to attend this year. "You only live once," she said. In addition, it's short.
I was just looking at airfares from NYC to Toronto, which are currently less than $300 round trip. Then there's the auto rental to consider. My thoughts are, if I am going to do this, I would fly up that Friday and stay until Monday. Anyone have a problem with that?
Also, does anyone have any experience flying Air Canada? Are they as nice as Kate and Larry?

Howard that would be SOOO great! Do it. Your lovely wife and I are in accord. Regarding transport - there is a bus that comes from the airport to Owen Sound - an airport express. It's about $40. If your schedule and their schedule should match up you won't need a car. Here is the airbus schedule: www.greybruceairbus.com/depart.htm

Yeah, Dub, really, eh?
I am touched by your enthusiasm as well as by your deft use of bold type.

I concur. I'm out of town and typing on an iPad. So I shan't be verbose.
But WOO HOO

We'd been planning to get to Big Apple Jam last year and something happened and we couldn't go. Now we'll get to meet at least one member of the Gotfryd clan.

I just might be able to make this one. Summers in the Great North Woods are lovely.

Well, that was a sudden change.
As I mentioned to Mark offline, Diane and I were planning to go to Alaska in late July. That plan had been hatched a little late and I was finding that a lot of options were already foreclosed. I mentioned this gathering, and how it would be good people in an area that both of us have never seen but would like to see. Diane concluded that we should do this and table Alaska for a year. So we're planning to be there.

Even if I could manage such a thing, which I know I can't, I spent this afternoon planning a summer school camp for that weekend. That being said, it's great to hear that Swanjam is going to happen again. Wunderbar! And if Tamarak could make it, wouldn't that be a most wonderful addition?

How wonderful that you will be here, with your lovely wife, Flake! And Village, I'm sorry to hear that you can't.
Tamarack! YAY!

Well, that was a sudden change. Terrific! I sense a photo trek up the Peninsula in the works.

Well, we have a tradition, don't we Dub? This year I thought we could take a hike along the cliffs over Hope Bay on the Bruce Trail, which is easy walking but leads to some spectacular views over the bay from quite a height, and then perhaps down into the Reserve at Cape Croker for the view from the other direction. It is just beautiful there. The rocks are beautiful but a little difficult farther north.
This is going to be a lovely time.

It sounds wonderful. Unfortunately, gig scheduling and finances won't allow it this year. I'll be there in spirit, though.

My big deal would be getting time off from work -- I shall check on that today. I have already asked to have Fri., Aug. 2, off for a class reunion, but I would gladly give that up if it would improve my chances of getting to Sounde de l'Owenne.
