Snappy Tom is spiced tomato juice in a can. Think Bloody Mary mix. It used to be a beverage option on commercial flights.

Little can of Snappy Tom and one of those mini bottles of vodka and you got yourself a Bloody Mary. Or you could order the little can of orange juice for a Screwdriver. Unless you were in First Class, then drinks were free and the steward mixed it for you.

The kid gets passed security and gets a free flight to Maui. I can't get through security without them dumping my meds into my clothes, not to mention losing my luggage.
I love to hear the kid's take on this experience. It had to have been a miserable flight, with or without a Snappy Tom. Although, the vodka might have helped.

Is this the story about the kid in the wheel well to Hawaii? The radio account this morning said he blacked out and doesn't remember anything about the flight. Up above 30,000 feet with no oxygen and at sub-zero temperatures he's very lucky to still be alive.

He is double lucky he didn't get sucked out of the wheel well when the landing gear came down. Which has happened to a few brave idiots that have tried to pull the same stunt.

The hypothermia may have saved him. I did a year of cardiovascular surgery in training and when patients were on bypass you could cool them down and actually stop their heart and have about a 30 minute window to work on it before putting on the jumper cables and re-starting it. None the worse for wear. Kids have drowned in cold fresh water and been revived after having been under for quite a while and turned out normal.
