Looks good. Always thought the Humvees were stupid as a jeep replacement. And from drawing board to finish in 6mo that's un government. And a bunch of off the shelf parts is very un government.

Did you see the used tanks for sale? Fork out $200,000 and no more problems with rush hour.

If you haven't already, Doug, you should dig out a copy of James Fallows' old book, "National Defense." Some scary chapters on how the "experts" in the Pentagon had stepped in to screw up some weapons programs that private industry (or internal ad hoc military groups) had come up with, most notably the M-16 and the F-16. The brass had a habit of adding capabilities that weren't needed and for adding complexity when a simple solution was best.

Such as the m16 setting that would shoot three rounds? Can't do just one round or full auto, had to have three. Apparently caused all kinds of problems and expense.
For some reason, senior military planners don't like simple and strong. The warthog has not been liked by anyone except the people that use it for a long time. You'd think everyone would learn, that simple and cheap tends to win out in the long run.
