Aren't guns pretty much banned in Chicago? The state was forced into agreeing to a concealed carry law not long ago. There are some saying that since the law passed, it has gotten better. Maybe it would have been 50 people shot this weekend instead! Concealed carry helping

CBS is reporting over the weekend, 60 shot/11 dead. Damn. That's grim statistics. Is it all gang related stuff?

It was 60 shot. Most was gang related. IL was the last state in the union to allow concealed carry.

Aren't guns pretty much banned in Chicago? Yeah, but you can cross into Indiana, buy 20 or so Saturday night specials, at a gun show, without a background check, and drive right back and sell them on the streets for a 200% mark-up. And of course fireworks are illegal in Illinois too. Yet every street corner in the city looks like Fort Henry on the 4th.

<McHenry> I was raised a Baltimore boy (born in Annapolis), so seeing this is like seeing someone write John Hopkins University, too. OK, back to your gun talk.

I don't know the statistics but around here I'm absolutely sure there's a gun for every 8 square feet of property. And you only need to go to the Gander Mountain or the WalMart to pick another one up. And fireworks are available on every street corner big enough to hold the tent. No need even to run up to West Virginia for the big stuff if you want to seriously blow some stuff up. I don't think anyone was shot over the weekend. Curious.

Well I'm not going to get into splitting hairs (with a Colt 45 at 200 yards like Clint), but I'm guessing your gun count includes a higher proportion of "legally purchased" arms.
But there's certainly no way to rationalize what goes on in gang turf of Chicago.

Just think how dangerous those guys might be if they learned a little bit about how to shoot a gun.

My son runs a science outreach program at the Boys And Girls club in Chicago. We went out for beers with a couple of the counselors who were also Chicago cops.
They got a little drunk and started talking shop. It was amazing. They had their guns out every night.
There are good kids caught up in all of this. Finding their way out is a monumental struggle.

I am right watching the Chicago evening news right at this moment and the right numbers are 82 shot 14 killed.

There was another rash of shootings last night. TV news reported it. I can't find a link with the numbers. But I found a link to the Redeye paper that tracks shootings for the year. The vast majority are in black neighborhoods on the south and west side. Jesse Jackson wants a massive program to give jobs to everybody. He's got a point, except where do the jobs come from? homicides.redeyechicago.com/

He's got a point, except where do the jobs come from? You just make them. You know. Job creation. Ex nihilo.
