Just brought a 60's LGO with a plastic bridge back to life. Had one dangling and three loose braces, and a damaged bridge plate. After brace repair and bridge plate repair with the cool StewMac tools and a new Rosewood bridge it's a great little guitar. Really addicting. Perfect for fingerstyle blues. Hate to give it back to the customer. I've been on eBay looking for more of these to restore.

Very nice. Is it for sale or going to be part of your own stable?

Unusual color on the top. Refinish? (Unusual pickguard too. Must be refinish) Plastic bridges were about 1962, I think. Really a BAD idea.
I've played a couple LGOs & LG1s with ladder braces and was generally unimpressed. But in your hands it could be made very good.
Much different sonic animal from a good LG2

Customers can be so selfish--wanting their stuff back like that.

Unusual color on the top. Refinish? (Unusual pickguard too. Must be refinish) Looks like the original pick guard to me. Every one I ever saw had that guard and it is usually attached with screws. I think the finish is original, too. They all had that mahogany-like color as I recall.

Spose you're right. I guess I was thinking LG1. Maybe I've never actually seen an LG0
LG3 was blond top too. A blond LG2.

Terry -- so you are scouring eBay for new projects?
Didn't Marty warn you this restoration stuff is addictive?

Actually, what surprised me was not the pick guard. It was the binding. Look at the Elderly listing and you'll see why.

A LGO should be the same color all around since it has a mahogany top.
LG1 Same guitar but with spruce top and back binding, sunburst or natural.
LG2 Same as LG1 in sunburst but X braced.
LG3 Same as LG2 but natural top.
Just finished a neck reset on a sunburst LG1. I did a Brazilian bridge for it a few years ago.

Is there binding on the Elderly one? It looks like there is binding on the one posted here or is that lighting and shadows?

Maybe it is typical Gibson inconsistency. Some have binding and some don't. Maybe due to the year of production?

In my high school folk club, all the girls had LGO's. Us guys with dreadnoughts were scornful.

Later LGOs don't have top binding if I remember correctly. There was also a B-15 in the late 60s that was the same specs as a LGO but with a spruce top. Although, I have owned a B-15 with X bracing, but that just goes back to the Gibson inconsistent thing. They had more orders for B-15s than B-25s so they used ready made B-25 tops for B-15s.
