Stoutbox, a better idea. If I'm ever in Ireland my first drink will be a pint of Guinness but I don't like the stuff that they either ship or make here. Really? All the product here is made in Ireland, and both the Irish folk I know and friends who have travelled say it's all the same as far as taste goes. Love the stuff. But there are lots of great stouts on the market.

I guess my first drink in Ireland will be a whiskey.

So, what's the verdict? Does this need to pass 2/3 Congress? Hey, maybe the shoutbox is just a direct feed to the NSA. . . . . . . . .

I shut down the Shoutbox. For Christmas Eve and New Years Eve I will bring it back and we will use it instead of a chat room, unless the damn chat room is working again.

I guess my first drink in Ireland will be a whiskey. Most of the Guinness sold here is brewed in Canada. Check the label. Some types (the cans with that little ball?) are shipped in from Ireland, but the rest (the bottled brews?) is brewed in Canada. Oh, and the stuff you get in Ireland hasn't been pissed in before shipment. (we keep telling them that it all doesn't go to England, but, they keep pissing in it, regardless). Very generally speaking, beer pulled from a keg will be less carbonated. Whether that is viewed as being smoother or flatter depends on mood and taste buds (predominantly mood). And with all beer, freshness matters. Ageing is good for wine and whiskey, but beer is meant to be consumed quickly. Six months is three months longer than any beer should be kept once it leaves the brewery. (I took a beer class) /

Long ago I went fishing with a group of guys to Lake of the Woods. We camped for a week on an island so there was no chance to go anywhere for supplies.
When we crossed the border at International Falls we stopped to stock up on beer. I'm very fond of Guinness so I bought a couple of cases to take with. The first night of camp I opened the first bottle and was shocked at the unpleasant flavor I found. It was nothing like the Irish Guinness I loved. I thought perhaps I'd mistaken some other product for Guinness but I read the label carefully and it definitely purported to be Guinness. Then I discovered the small print. It was made in Canada by LeBatt's (sp?) or Moleson or somebody. Somebody who didn't know or care what Guinness should be. I eventually drank it but not gladly.
