My favorite San Fransisco treat. Ragtime guitarist extrordinaire. And my favorite pre show announcements.
Craig Ventresco August 26 near San Francisco, CA · Edited Ah, Ragtime....the Kiwi Fruit of American music. It used to be that you couldn't trudge down Market Street without somebody smoking a cigar, wearing a straw hat and drinking Country Time Lemonade sneaking up behind you and whistling some ragtime.Well, those days are long past and they finally caught the San Francisco Lemonade Marauder...that Robin Hood of Ragtime. But,"What IS ragtime?!@? "you may ask. Well, really it's simple. Allow me to explain by way of a demonstration.. Begin stomping your feet, but when you count to seven click your heels and hunch backwards. Allowing your front feet to lurch on the three and six, jump on the second part of the fifth beat. There.. you've got it. Today at five I'll be playing with Virginia Tichenor at Pier 23 in San Francisco, noted for its cable cars and the colorful wax fangs that its residents enjoy wearing while sauntering down the magnificent thoroughfare that is Van Ness Avenue. Come join us for three hours of non stop ragtime playing and the simultaneous weekly meeting of The Country Time Lemonade Doughnut Dunking Quadrille Society .

Another Ventresco announcement:
For those of you who may be interested..I 'm playing two solo gigs tomorrow. The first (of course) is at the Atlas Cafe, home of the foot long accordion and mustard sandwich. I'll be playing the hits of your life from 4-6. Then, at 6:30 or so I'm playing an opening set at Amnesia. In their hopes to build up the level of excitement during the course of the evening they're going to begin with me yodeling a few of my guitar solos. Then, after I'm done they're serving a salad made from lemon Jello, raw onions and prunes. Next will come Gus Forsyth and his Hot Nut Riveters and after him will be yet another group -- The Lost Bayou Ramblers. I'm done at 7:30 but I'm sure the music will continue long into the night, paving the way for many interesting trials and tribulations that will be serialized over the next several years by blogging logger Erwin Twitt....(but I'm taking off at 7:30!)
