I'm not young. But I think it's cool. I'd love to try one.
The whole cart thing in golf is a pain. 2 guys. Balls going in different directions. All over the place. And if it has rained in the last few days the golf course says "Cart Path Only" which is a worse pain.
Of course you can walk. Which I do about 1/2 the time. But that slows things down somewhat. I'd love to try some personal vehicle.
Might be fun to take out your next club and see if you can hit the ball while still rolling up to it. Sort of polo-golf. I'd probably score about the same.

Looks like fun. Now just take the golf part out and you've got it.

I believe this is the perfect thread for those immortal words, "Get off my lawn!"

Wouldn't it be cool to see those in the US Open? I can see all sorts of Orthopaedic revenue coming from them. Probably a long time before the Royal and Ancient sanctions them for use at St. Andrews.
An aside--
My dad was an avid golfer and had a place in Sun City. there was an 18 hole course right there. Every old guy had his own cart. They had a shotgun start every morning around 9AM. All the guys would gather in front of the clubhouse and when signaled, head for their assigned tees. Two foursomes per tee. That would make +/- 144 carts in front of the clubhouse.
I was there for a start one day. It was mass carnage as 144 old guys with cataracts, bad hearing, and slow reflexes headed out. When the smoke cleared there was a considerable amount of debris on the pavement. Sunglasses, clubs, balls, hats, etc.

They could just replace golf carts with Segways that have golf bag holders. Be a lot safer and their liability insurance would be a whole lot less.

When Sue and I were hiking in Vail, there were some guys playing a round of Frisbee Golf. There's a real marked course through the mountain slopes.

Mark Twain is often quoted as saying “Golf is a good walk, spoiled.” It looks as though that may not be true much longer. No walking involved.

We have wooded frisbee golf in central NH. Fun, yet taxing trudging up and down the mountain.

James, I don't know what to say. Reading that blog post I was suddenly overcome by emotion and memories. I left Mr. Jodell a response. It will be interesting to see if he takes interest. Thanks for that.

I thought this was a thread about not having to play eighteen holes with somebody named Deborah.

The redeeming factor I found in golf was that I got a little exercise. This board eliminates that as well.

I also remember Evan Esar (Comic Dictionary) defining a golf ball as "a small object that remains on a tee while a perspiring citizen fans it vigorously with a long club."

I have always enjoyed golf, but it's gotten stupidly expensive. Kids can't play, because they can't afford it. Also, when I was playing in my 20s, it was more relaxed. You could wear sandals, a t-shirt, shorts. Then they started to bring in dress codes. I don't know a lot of 20 somethings interested in wearing something snazzy for the sporting recreation.

Back when we were 16 or so my friends and I had early skateboards which we rode downhills until the bearings wore out, which didn't take long. I sent them the link to this video since we're old golfers now. My wife's comment was that all she could picture was old hair teeth and eyeballs all over the course. My old friends objected to the $5200 price tag. Golf's expensive enough already I guess.
Rick, you can always move down here. $300/mo for unlimited golf at my country club. They do have a dress code but being a red-neck country club some members stretch it quite a bit in the Summer.

I know how to make golf less boring. Leave the bag, clubs and balls at the clubhouse and just ride those things around the course.
That looks like fun.
