On a side note, racoon actually isn't bad meat at all. I always defer to LJ's expertise in matters of Kentuckian cuisine.

As it turns out, I did not make it to Hudson -- I spent the day extricating myself from the hole I dug for myself by forgetting Milady's birthday. It took flowers, gifts and a champagne brunch but I think I am now in the clear.
Not sure if the Radtkes went or not.
When I was a kid, my great aunt had an annual coon feed -- that meat was wonderful.

Oh my God! You forgot the birthday? I am glad you are here to talk about it today. I can not forget Barb's birthday since it is Dec. 25th and there are other birthday festivities going on that serve to remind me.

We didn't make it. Melva was at the grocery store for regular stuff so I called her. She looked as she drove by and said there were only a couple people there.

My dad was a hunter. I grew up eating plenty of pheasant (and yes, Dad said that a good hunter would only shoot the bird in the head ). Mom's recipe was to dredge the pieces in flour, brown them and put them in a blue roaster (had to be the blue roaster)with a little water (I think). An hour before serving she poured a carton of cream over the top and returned to the oven. Best gravy EVER. This sounds fantastic!

Ayla killed pheasant with a sling... It wasn't a sling. And it was able to throw a stone the size of a softball. And how did she know how big a softball was?

Is your voice higher now than it was last time I spoke with you? All is well. After brunch, I polished off the day by taking her to Lakewood Cemetery and touring the Garden Mausoleum. Hammond knows how to show a lady a good time!

Yes, Marshall, and doing so means less competition when you go after those mulberries next summer.
