One summer I took 23 from Souix Falls to 65 and then up to Tamarack. It was a long way from Bakersfield.

Very nice. Good eye, Lonnie. Is that a camera, or on your phone?

Very nice. Good eye, Lonnie. Is that a camera, or on your phone? These were mostly done with my Canon IXY that I picked up in Tokyo last year, contrast-corrected in Photoshop. I have my Nikon D70 DSLR with me, I've had it forever and it is sadly developing a pixel trash problem. I'll edit the previous post and note the ones taken with the Nikon. The others are the Canon point and shoot.

Great shots. Really conveyed the kind of day it was, and the wide open skies. The brick wall reminds me of Matthew Cornell's paintings.

I like this one. I'm guessing that's an old Coke bottling plant for the days when every town had one and they were all red brick. And Coke bottles still had the town on the bottom.

Fine shots and very pretty country! I hope you'll keep them coming.
It has a very northern look.

A fine weekend for a drive in the North Woods and some fine photos to prove it!
I like the faded Coca-Cola sign. Last week they demolished an old building in downtown Grand Rabbits and revealed a chewing tobacco advertisement that hadn't been seen since Teddy Roosevelt was president.

Those are some great captures of a wonderful, but melancholy time of year. It's fall but summer is hanging on, and you've captured that perfectly. I'll be those birch will be brilliant yellow soon. Thanks for taking the time to take and post these. The north country is a beautiful place.

Beautiful photos. Makes me miss autumn in Minnesota. Of course come the minus-25 days of January, I'll have to post my own photos from the desert.
"A hometown full of faded signs" would be the good first line of a song.

Whenever I motorcycle Up North I always take that route. It's a gorgeous road and really only takes about 45 minutes longer.

You've got me thinking of a vacation next summer. Is there stuff to do in the Duluth area, with a spouse who avoids anything to do with camping?
