Happy All Hallow's Eve Eve. Do they still do Beggar's Night in some towns? Looks like maybe they celebrated early in SF last night.
So I found out yesterday that I will be able to play Santa this year without hair dye. Started Votrient last night since my last couple of scans show progression. It's guaranteed to turn my hair white fairly quickly. Other than the IL-2 hospital stays and recovery times it's been a great 2014 being drug free, but from now on I'm likely to be on one drug or another to try to keep this cancer stable at best. They scored me a month's worth free (that's a $12K value) and I won't find out about co-pays until we do a dance with the insurance company and the UVA Pharmacy Assistance folks in a few weeks. Worse than the sticker shock is the three page list of side effects but I'm getting a lot of good advice for coping with them from other patients online.

Good morning. Dick, I've been keeping you in mind and wishing you the best with this. You seem to have as good an attitude as anyone could have.

Geez, Dick. Tough way to be a Santa. Hope things go smoothly with minimal side effects.

Hang in there Dick, hopefully all this will be worth it.
About to drop DaWife off at work, then a little shop time before I head to the Podium around 10:30 for some in house repairs. I'll take my travel repair kit.

Good luck Dick. Fortunately all the side effects of the positive energy being sent your way from the forum are good ones.
Say hello to the Podium crew for me Marty. I'll have another one down there in a month or so.
I am working on a power point presentation for community ed on Bluegrass. I have learned how to embed YouTube videos so I was up till 1:30 AM last night watching stuff. It is amazing what is out there. I have two 45 minute sessions and too much material already.
Although a long time fan, some of the early New Grass Revival videos with Pat Flynn and Bella were just amazing and I had forgotten how funny John Duffy was in the Country Gentlemen and Seldom Scene (my favorite band). It was also fun to watch some later Bill Monroe cuts with Wayne Lewis, Butch Robbins, and Kenny Baker. Bill would step up and kind of massacre a mandolin lead bailing out at the end with total self confidence and no apologies.

Man, Dick, you sure impress with your fortitude and resolve -- that pays off big-time, they always say.
Another gorgeous day in the Carolinas -- sunny, high today sposed to be a bit cooler, like 65. One more overnight in Greensboro, then on to Hendersonville/Brevard, and three days with preggers Yungerdottir. They close on a house on Monday, and I will get to see at least the outside this weekend. Can't wait.
I've tentatively made up my mind for my trip back. I am gonna drive from Hendersonville to Chattanooga on Monday, look for some live music and/or open mike and stay there overnight, then head up to Nashville and do likewise. After that, an open agenda as long as the Visa isn't maxed out!
Any suggestions for must-sees/must-do's in Tennessee, folks?

some of the early New Grass Revival videos with Pat Flynn and Bella were just amazing I was lucky enough to catch this on Austin City Limits. The whole "concert" was wonderful, but this particular cover blew my mind. It's amazing how entertaining it can be when folks allow themselves to mix and match and have the skill to pull it off.

It's an encouragement to me, and good to see. I know all too well how difficult it can be at times to maintain it. But what choice do we have? Keep it up, sir. Besides.....white hair isn't all that bad. Looks great with a tan. And Bill.....if I haven't mentioned it already, congrats on becoming a Grampa!

Bill, add some corn tortillas and you've got huevos rancheros.
Dick, I'm sure you're not trying to be an inspiration, but you are.
Trip to Tucson yesterday. I had a routine mammogram at the U of Arizona Medical Center and was asked two Ebola questions. Had I traveled to west Africa? Had I associated with anyone who had? The facility has recently moved so that it shares a parking lot with a Trader Joe's. Naturally, we spent some money there. Back at home we enjoyed some chicken basil sausages with whole wheat pasta.
On the road back to Tucson early tomorrow morning for Mr. H's endoscopy. I could drive it in my sleep, but will attempt to stay awake.

Good luck, Dick.
Back from Door County. The brace allowed me to actually walk around quite a bit. Level ground is best but hills and stairs worked out sort of ok. Anyway, we had a good time. Now I have to figure some way to deal with the knee deep leaves in the yard. This ain't gonna be easy. Hope you all had a nice day.
