I think the kids are done for the night. The tequila jell-o shots went over well, the ground glass sandwiches, not so much...

I gave out Maid Rites in a small sandwich bag. I gave them the option of a squirt of ketchup.

Just got dark so I figure that as the cut off for the parent walks them around little kids. And the current score is Chris' 1, Doug 1, TorTers 0. I guess we have an hour our two of the older kids if we have any.

They don't start here until after dark. No fun trick or treating in the daylight.

Well I got the evil eye from me darling wife about retiring upstairs with the dog. So I stayed downstairs and gave out my bag of candy while Roxy growled at kids. That's okay, I got to raid the huge sack of candy Zaria brought home.

We usually have two or three gangs of Hispanic kids drop by our house in downtown DC, very cute, plus maybe four or five stray, shy, and very polite African-American kids accompanied by their moms. This year nothing. Only a loud party across the alley where some yuppies recently moved into one of the newly condo-ized houses. I might have to put on my police costume and go over and tell them to pipe down.

We had a huge increase in trick or treaters this year. The last couple of years we have had from 0 to maybe 4. No sidewalks where we live and a older neighborhood means less kids. But last night we had a least 15 little goblins, gouls, fairies, and super heros. The littlest ones are so cute.
Katie was texting us from the Corvallis house, she had loads of kids. She and her girl friends dressed up and had a ball giving out candies and watched spooky movies. Sounds like they had a great time.

Crazy turn-out last night. I think we ended up going through 25 bags of candy, and that was after I made Lydia and her three friends reach into their bags after their first trip out and donate a handful each into our bucket.
Had a truly sad moment at the end, though. I was sitting on the front step, greeting the kids as they came up. It was getting late, and the flow had turned to a trickle. Eventually I gave out the very last piece we had. And just then three little girls in princess costumes came up, and I had to tell them I was out. The littlest one started crying.
