My sister sent me this. wane.com/2015/02/25/national-goalball-team-will-train-in-fort-wayne/My brother-in-law has been coaching a goal ball team in Seattle, kind of like soccer for blind people. In this video from Indiana, when somebody makes a goal, a line judge in a white shirt throws his arms up in the air. That's him. From this news clip it sounds like it's aimed at vets; he lost an eye in Vietnam, I don't know if that's what drew him toward this or not.

Yup, I know about goal ball. Played it and watched it. It was created to give the blind and visually impaired a competitive sport, and it can get pretty tough. I know I sprained my middle finger years ago to the point where it was the size of my wrist for two weeks.
The best was to describe it is to watch the video. The ball itself is heavy rubber with a bell insided, and it weighs about three pounds, which doesn't sound like much unless you can only hear it and it's coming at you. If you are not totally blind, you are blindfolded.
We used to play this all the time when we had a residential school, and the Braille School still assembles a team from across the state every year that competes nationally with other state schools for the blind. And it's growing huge in the adult world. Great that your brother-in-law is involved. I could see enough of the video to see that it shows the game being played, but the web is crawling for me right now so I'll have to watch the whole thing later. Thanks for posting.

It was a Paralympics event at London 2012 I think.

And it's growing huge in the adult world. Hmm. Another example of goal ball warming?

For some reason that was the first thing that crossed my mind too.

I know I'm jumping the gun, but this thread will never make it to seven pages...
