Somewhere around 6" of snow last night and this morning. Temps are right around freezing, so it's wet and heavy. I'm putting off shoveling as long as possible.
Great pic, Marshall. Sounds like a fun night.
Good luck with Dad today, Bill.

OK. 80 year old 6' long iron claw foot tub out of the bathroom and in the yard. I need a drink.

Well, I am home again, home again. Took back roads over and back, different ones, fun driving and all very winterly scenic. When I got to Dad's NH, he was not in his room, had already wheeled down to the dining room. Found him alone at a table, waiting for seatmates and food, and when I crouched down beside him and said "Hi, Dad," he brightened and said "Bill," which filled me with great joy, as the previous two visits he was not sure who I was, though he had said "I've seen you around."
Spent a total of two hours with him. After lunch we trundled back to his room, transferred him to his beloved recliner, we chatted a bit, and he started falling in and out of snooze mode, so I got out the guitar and played for half an hour or so, stopping every time he came to and had something to say or ask.
Most of what he said didn't really make sense to me, but he seemed in OK humor, if confused. Twice he said "I'm so dumb."
He will be 96 on May 1. He's doing a lot better than many others in that dining room, most of whom were younger than he is.
So, a good visit.
Shortly after crossing back into MN from Cheezland, Black Beauty's odometer clicked over to 150,000. The old girl is still running and handling like a filly, though.
Oh, and I stopped at a little bar and grill outside of Menomonie for a late lunch -- great burger from local meat, half-pounder with local cheddar, plus chips and a bottle of Leinie's. Total tab: $6.75.
I love Wisconsin.

Sounds like a nice visit despite things, Bill, and I bet you're happy you went. Taking the back-roads was an excellent idea. There hasn't been nasty weather for a few days so the roads are clear, lots on snow, and one of the prettiest parts of the United States. Seriously.
