Welcome to Friday. Temaki for dinner in a little bit.
For summer coursework, daughter says, "I think I'm gonna go with the MCDB (i.e. molecular, cellular, and developmental biology) course and its lab."

Holy smokes. It is so early. This is the time of day people in Iowa get up to milk animals and gather eggs and bacon. People around here are sleeping and will be for two more hours. It is really dark out there and it snowed last night. It is dark and snowy and wet and why I am up is a mystery. Coffee just makes me more aware of how early it is and why I should be sleeping. Todd has probably been up for hours and is out working on the pork cutlet farm or something. When you do wake up, have a good day. I may be back asleep by then, so keep it down for a while.

Good morning. Supposed to be a rainy day but looking at the weather map there's a storm that will pass out to sea to my east and another that looks like it will pass up the bay to my west and we may stay dry. I'm not counting on it though.
I'll probably waste the day getting a set ready for the open mic next Wednesday and intermittently napping which has become a new hobby of mine since the operation. I'm attempting to move heavier things now but that 50 pound bag of rock salt that was by the back door yesterday may have been a mistake.
Rumor has it it's Friday. Have a good one.

G'mornin' - I agree that it's too darn early, but the wet nose of a dog poking me in the face is hard to ignore.

Off to the doc to tend to those two hunks of festering madness formerly known as lungs.

Morning 19f right now. Sunny and maybe 36f today. My Podium day, so I'll start with breakfast at the Rail Station. Me Darling Wife has our health insurance through her job at US Bank. They just switched providers and her new prescription coverage is no coverage at all. We have to pay $4500 out of pocket before they will cover anything. That is more than our prescriptions run a year so it is of no use what so ever. They did not offer any options, they simply said this is your new coverage.

I've been up, but on the stairs playing with my slinky. It's sunny but cool, warm weather is coming. Off to Des Moines this weekend, oh boy. At least I'm getting paid.

Friday and it feels good. Looks like mostly sunny and 50's on tap. The rooster across the road says hi.

Headed for the F'burg blues jam last night but ended up at a local BBQ joint open mic. Played my ASAT through the p.a. And had a good drummer for accompaniment. Wife is off today so we are day tripping to Staunton. That's pronounce STAN TEN, in case you ever go there. Not too far from BOONA VEESTA, aka Buena Vista. And on the way back through cville there is WRY--O road, aka Rio road

Our niece and nephew live in Ankeny, which is close to Des Moines so we get to spend some time in both places. I like the area.

Ankeny pretty much is Des Moines anymore, the area is growing that much.

Sunny, and a HUGE day for me -- my last day at the building where I have worked more than 8,000 shifts, and also my last scheduled night shift. The newsroom is all packed up and ready to be moved over the weekend -- on Monday I will report to Stardeck 9000 and start a whole new chapter.
It's exciting, and emotional, of course. There is to be a gathering at 4, and I've been asked to join a merrie bande in playing a tune that a young page designer wrote for the occasion -- it's pretty cute.
Last night three of our nightside brethren surprised us after the first-edition deadline with a cake they made in the image of our venerable building -- it was amazing. I'll post some photos when they are available.
In the meantime, I need a haircut, need to do laundry, need to tune Mizz Martina for the office gig!
