One thing they mentioned was that they loved it when we all sang a song together at the end of the concert last year. In fact, they loved it enough that they want to have us do that twice, so I went ahead and offered that we'd do that before intermission. What they are looking for, however, is a sing-along. Something everybody knows. And this is where I'm asking for ideas.
One idea I have is "You are My Sunshine". Everybody knows the chorus to that one. Any other ideas?

Blatsovera does not compute with Google.

No problem, Rob. They want a song that they know.

Fortunately, however, it doesn't have a singable refrain.

How about "This Land Is Your Land"? Lots of opps for various singers to do a verse, then a strong consistent chorus that everyone knows, with a solid message.

Perfect, Bill. I've done that lots for sing--longs, and it would be perfect because of the way you said it could be done.

Amazing Grace.
Yes, Grace was quite a gal, but I am talking about the church song.

Last year we closed with Good Night Irene, and that was perfect. This Land is your Land would be great to end Act I.

I Saw the Light A Hank song always works. As a group song I think we should stay away from religious lyrics, though.

With "This Land" you get a patriotic theme (never mind the commie who wrote it).

If you're going to do "This Land..." you need to update it with some Maj7ths.

I think as a general rule, though, you are wrong. There are a lot of Jesus references in there, remember. With "This Land" you get a patriotic theme (never mind the commie who wrote it). "This Land" As I went walking I saw a sign there
And on the sign it said "No Trespassing."
But on the other side it didn't say nothing,
That side was made for you and me.
In the shadow of the steeple I saw my people,
By the relief office I seen my people;
As they stood there hungry, I stood there asking
Is this land made for you and me?
And "Irene" promoting suicide and divorce. Sometimes I live in the country,
sometimes I live in town
Sometimes I take a great notion,
to jump into the river and drown
I love Irene, God knows I do,
I'll love her till the seas run dry
But if Irene should turn me down,
I'd take the morphine and die
Some songs just transcend objectionable lyrics.
