Looks like Katie is on track to get her bachelors in biology and chemistry a full year early, (that's summer '16) while keeping a straight 4.0 the whole time. She wants to teach, so next up is grad school. This summer she is working in the botany lab at school for 20 hours a week while taking 14 credits. She is my rock star.

Good on her. Having a biology degree and having taken a lot of chemistry, those aren't easy degrees.

I always marvel that a forum full of guitar-junkie losers have such great and accomplished kids.

It helps to marry well. (And that's where the guitar part comes in.)

Mike She oughta be your rock star! That's great news. Change of subject, do you still have that snake she insisted on having years ago?

I dare say she has reciprocal admiration.

Renzo, the Sinoloan Milk Snake is currently residing in a terrarium in Corvallis OR, in Katie's bedroom. Which is fine with me as I no longer have to feed the stupid thing. The nice thing about the snake is we can all go on vacation for a week or two, and the snake will be just fine. Unlike the girls, (our dogs) who either need to come with us or have dog sitters. Still, I'll take the dogs over a snake any day.

Major congrats to her!

Congrats to Katie and her Mom & Dad! Majoring in biology and chemistry means acing Organic Chemistry, a mind-boggling challenge. I got a C in O Chem, and was thanking Jesus just to have made it through. Anita struggled with O Chem, and she is a pharmacist. Katie seems to understand chemistry on a different level. She doesn't just memorize the reactions like mere mortals do, she figures out what the valence electrons are doing so she can predict what will happen. I have no idea where that came from, but...
