So sorry, Patrick. It sounds like they've left the world a better place than they found it.

(Sturm und Drang - I have to say I love that term. Never heard it before this. Here's the wiki def:
Sturm und Drang (German pronunciation: [ˈʃtʊʁm ʊnt ˈdʁaŋ], literally "Storm and Drive", "Storm and Urge", though conventionally translated as "Storm and Stress")[1] is a proto-Romantic movement in German literature and music taking place from the late 1760s to the early 1780s, in which individual subjectivity and, in particular, extremes of emotion were given free expression in reaction to the perceived constraints of rationalism imposed by the Enlightenment and associated aesthetic movements. The period is named for Friedrich Maximilian Klinger's play Sturm und Drang, which was first performed by Abel Seyler's famed theatrical company in 1777.
The philosopher Johann Georg Hamann is considered to be the ideologue of Sturm und Drang, with Jakob Michael Reinhold Lenz, H. L. Wagner and Friedrich Maximilian Klinger also significant figures. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was also a notable proponent of the movement, though he and Friedrich Schiller ended their period of association with it by initiating what would become Weimar Classicism.)
Thanks for that, too.

Sorry I'm late on this, Patrick.
Your parents sound like the sort of people who were truly deserving of admiration and respect.
They were obviously a blessing to you, and I suspect they felt you were a blessing to them, as well.
My condolences, but never forget - although loved ones pass on, the love doesn't have to.

Your folks sound like they were exceptional people, and I can imagine the range of emotions you must be experiencing right now. Hang in there. Deepest sympathies from here.

Patrick, you may find this consoling or not. Both my parents are gone, Maureen's too. I often wish I could hop in the car or pick up the phone and talk to them. After a twinge of sadness I can feel their presence in me, and it is most comforting. I'm sure your folks will always be with you as well.

Patrick, it sounds like you picked wonderful parents. So good that you got to see them one last time. Some part of us thinks that our parents will be around forever. No matter their age or their health, their passing comes as a shock. My sympathies.

I've probably said this before, but as you mourn their loss celebrate their lives. It seems there was a lot to celebrate.
