OK who's coming to IJ
I'm coming.
Looking less like driving the VW. Chris is against it. Too much interstate. VW is up to the trip but I'm not sure I am. VW interstate cruse ~70mph vs HHR ~80. Makes the first day 9 hrs the first day to get over the mountains vs 7 hrs in the HHR. There is no practical way to go staying on 2 lane. I'm guessing I'll decide at the last minute.

My calendar is actually freeing up. I had a conflict on that weekend that would have made me spit time tween Iowa and Cheddarland. But the other invitation got moved to the next weekend, so I am presently without an excuse to miss it.
But I haven't "booked" anything. It's just in my calendar. (I never book early).

I wouldn't miss it. Planning to arrive sometime on Friday. I am assuming I don't need reservations to set up my tent under the butternut tree at Todd's house. I hope there is enough room for me and the Maki boys.

Doc, that's disappointing news. Bummer. I'm a firm "probably". No actual plans have been made, but absent some pressing situation, I'm in. Experience suggests that last minute accommodations are always available at the Modern, and I am counting on experience. |

After all these years I've talked me darling wife into coming. At this time I plan a leisurely drive along the Mississippi on Thursday, maybe even staying someplace along the way. I won't be there for Bob's Thursday night bash but will be checking into the Cobblestone sometime on Friday.

I am still hoping to be there. With the move and all the craziness that involves, I am unable to say 100% for sure but I am sure going to give it my best shot. I may have to sleep in Hammond's car trunk but I have slept in worse places--I hope.

Just tried to make a Cobblestone reservation and found that there are no rooms for Friday, though there were (as of 12:40 pm) nine open on Saturday. Hastened to the Modern site and reserved one of the few remaining rooms there. The roster of unavailable rooms show most of them booked for Friday but not Saturday. Have we run into the Iowa/Iowa State football weekend again?
Those who have yet to secure a room might want to snag a Modern room (or bring a tent and hope there's space under the butternut tree).

Fiddlerina and I plan to undertake the long, arduous journey from home to Vinton (50 mi.) and remain with you all for the weekend. Wouldn't miss it, actually. I just hope that when Guido gets here with Doc and Lonnie (and Terry) in tow, they aren't too badly injured to play.
