Sorry Marshall, but I killed more than several mulberry trees today. First they looked like this:
Then this:
Then a little dab of blue:
That blue is a chemical called tordon. Squirted on the stump of a fresh-fallen small tree, it'll rot out the root and kill the whole thing.
It might seem like a mean thing to do, killing off a bunch of trees in a day, but the fact is that fences are very expensive and need up-keep in order for them to fulfill their purpose.
I know how much you love mulberries, Marshall, but you're not going to find any around our place for a while.

You, sir, are a hero in my eyes. God bless you and your good work. Unlike some people, who shall not be named because everyone knows I am talking about Marshall, you obviously realize a mulberry tree is just a messy weed. Keep up the good work.

Why didn't you hunt it with bow and arrow?

And that power pole is stunning.

1. If you look at photos #1 and #2 you can imagine this narrative: In the first photo the mulberry tree is aware that Todd is coming for her. In the second photo the mulberry tree has run and is hiding from Todd (see it peeking out from behind the telephone pole in the near distance?).
2. Somebody can't keep their thumb out of the photo.
3. Todd casts an ominous shadow over the stump as he spreads his poison.
It's like a Steven King novel in three photos.

I'm having a little trouble with the concept of "near distance." Is that anything like "tight slacks?"

Tordon blue, everybody wants some Tordon blue, keeps your garden wholesome Trees that grew are subject to The blues now and then But when you take the blue And spread it 'round You rot 'em out again Tordon blue, spread it on a willow Tordon blue, soon you'll see it kill-o Funny thing, But you can fling it on a mulberry tree And before you know it poof it's gone The tree that used to be...

When I first met you baby, just a weed in my fence line It was sunny days and the promise of shade, I sure felt fine But now all you give me, as more of your kind sprouts Is purple-colored bird shit, and now I have my doubts Babe, you left me here with the mulberry tordon blues My car is totally covered, my patio, man, the whole yard And I've been sittin' here thinkin' That the clean-up is just too hard I’ve got a chainsaw with your name on it, the blade sharpened up and cleaned The gas and oil to start it up, and you know what that means I'm just a regular fella with the mulberry tordon blues

Mulberry trees are nature's way of telling us that even nature screws things up now and then.
