So....
Surgery was a bit north of 5 hours and the neurosurgeon was happy with aspect. Preliminary thought is the tumor is a metastatic carcinoma. Whatever that is. That is a bridge to cross all in good time.
One of the first things Nancy said, in response to "how do you feel", was "I feel joy"

Morning all
Good news Evan.
Summer is back and State Fair attendees will know it today as it will be rather warm and very, very humid. I shall stay downstairs and work in my cool dry shop. First off today is a new nut and saddle for a Cuban Tres that I have been working very hard on to make play in tune. I had to cut a hairs width of wood from the end of the fingerboard and move the saddle slot. All this had to be figured out by measuring the first 3 fret spacing's and then backward engineering the true scale length from those measurements.

In the space of two blocks on my commute this morning, September knocked me over the head. To my left, the State Fair was in progress, to my right the U of M ag fields were sporting yellow soybean leaves, and overhead flew a V of Canada geese.
This summer, as pleasant as it was, seems to have flown past unusually rapidly.

Good Late Morning Good People
A warm humid day. The arrival of September is bittersweet. Expectations of pleasant weather and another fine IdiotJam. However, as Bill alluded, the summer has flown by, little has been accomplished (endless home repairs), and pitifully little music, bicycling, and kayaking have occurred.
Office work today, spending the next week running back and forth between office, home, and a job site 30 miles distant -- might entail midnight checks on pumpage of contaminated water.
Good thoughts and prayers for a swift recovery winging their way to Baton Rouge.
Have a tranquil Tuesday one and all.

Sitting in mom's guest cabin waiting for Sandy to get out of the shower. Did a float on the upper Kenai yesterday and while it was cold in the morning it turned out to be a gorgeous day. Sunny, green mountain with some dall sheep dotting the mountains way up high. Caught some big fish flyfishing one of which was a 23" Arctic char. Today we are making the drive to Anchorage to pick up some caribou sausage and visit other family peeps.

Enjoy the Kenai, Steve. Watch out for those wild Secret Service agents.

Well I got the Tres done. Intonation is now quite reasonable, within 3 cents in first position, it was out by up to 8 cents, and the worst string at the octave is 7 cents off. Not trying to get it dead on the nut yet as I will be doing frets in the future. Then I proceeded to ruin two bridges in the making, fortunately they were walnut not rosewood. Time to knock off for the day.
