I remember the commercials where the guy was down to his last dollar and could still get a burger, fries and soda.

One other thing, McDonalds is great when you are out on the road. They have clean rest rooms and don't have "customers only" signs. I still make a point of at least buying a cup of coffee though (they have good coffee).

If you are at a McDonald's, keep an eye peeled for Doug. He'll either be in the crapper or standing in line at the counter to buy the cheapest thing they sell, which is coffee.
Doug likes to stop at McDonald's when he is traveling, as their restrooms are usually clean and their coffee is quite tasty. By buying something, he doesn't feel guilty about using their bathrooms, although as he points out, they don't have signs saying that only paying customers can use them.

I drive a lot with my job and don't eat at McDonald's very often at all, but I do buy their coffee when on the road. They have mostly clean restrooms and no for customers only signs. And I feel guilty and buy a cup of coffee, and they have pretty good coffee.

When I'm traveling, I look for some interesting local place to eat. But, afterwards, I head over to McDonald's and use their bathroom, as they are nice and clean and they don't care who uses them. I usually buy some of their coffee, as it is usually pretty good, unless there is a Caribou near by, then I don't. I also load up on napkins for the car and grab a newspaper or two.

Interesting approach. How is the coffee, taste-wise, at McDonald's?

I like their coffee too, but they will not put milk in it, only those crappy creamers.

I like their coffee too, but they will not put milk in it, only those crappy creamers. That's cause real men drink coffee black. Only girlie men put milk in coffee.

A sign like this is very unusual. In my travels, I have found it much more likely that McDonald's restrooms don't have such signs. I often use their restrooms because they are usually pretty clean. Then I buy some coffee, just to avoid being a cheapskate and also because their coffee is tasty and not expensive.

McDonald's bathrooms are so clean you could eat off the floor.

I like McDonald's coffee. But, about ten minutes after drinking it, I have to find another McDonald's so that I can, well, you know. Usually, it's best to just drive around in circles for a while.

I like their coffee too, but they will not put milk in it, only those crappy creamers. Really? Do you ever ask at the counter. Our experience, (my wife puts milk in,) is that they generally have one of their little cartons open in the fridge for folks who want milk in their coffee. But maybe that's just a Canuckistani thing.

I bet they just do a quick glance at your receipt, so keep one and use it over and over.
