Our reviewer gave it four stars, says it will go down in history as a legendary, essential film.

Looking forward to it. Hope it doesn't disappoint (slightly) like Star Wars Redux. I watched that with Baby Dottir and couldn't help from whispering about a dozen times: "It's the same story as the first one".

Todd Google Hugh Glass. This movie is based - I'm sure in a loose Hollywood fashion - on a true story. Looking very forward to seeing this one. My kinda flick.

I watched that with Baby Dottir and couldn't help from whispering about a dozen times: "It's the same story as the first one". Thanks Bill. I want to see that. After seeing the latest Star Wars I went back and watched the 1977 original. I had forgotten what a ground breaking film that was. The comic relief of the droids was pure genius and the characters like the junk dealing Jawas were certainly the product of a fertile mind. I had also forgotten that John Williams did the score and it was played by the London Philharmonic. The first part of the latest was pretty good but I thought it kind of deteriorated towards the end.

The movie was made already. 1971. Richard Harris. Grizzly bears. Cold weather. A guy sewing himself up with boot laces. Goes after bums that left him. Probably Indians, I don't remember for sure. 1971. Richard Harris, I tell ya.

I was disappointed in Star Wars. Fun, but yes, well, I think I saw it before.
The Revenant looks very cool.

I watched it but only on the TV. I thought it looked great but was a bit short on interesting plot and dialogue and went on a bit. It may have caught me on a bad day. 3½ out of 5
Edit- Referencing drlj's comment, I would have given a similar rating to 'A Man Called Horse' on a stingy day.
Edit - Neither Tom Hardy or Leonardo DiCaprio spoiled their reputations as capable actors.
Edit - I think I'm trying to damn with faintish praise here. Take no notice. I should have had a bucket of popcorn, a bigger screen and a less constipated mind.

This one's on my must watch list. Trouble is, I rarely go to the theater so it will be awhile before I can stream it on NetFlix. The new Tarantino movie is also on my list.

The Hateful Eight is in 70mm Panavision, last used in 1966. I watched it on a 48" TV and it didn't really do the format justice. Maybe you could sit closer to the telly than I did.

I always listen/read reviews ( REAL reviews) before choosing what flick to see. Being Sci-Fi guy, I was interested in the new Star Wars. But reviews (here too) are telling me to save my money. The Revenant flick looks like one I'll have to see.

He's very good. But he always has to push the envelope on what the viewer can stomach for violence. It consumes too much of his psyche for me. I don't like being that openly manipulated to go where I don't want to go.

Our reviewer gave it four stars, says it will go down in history as a legendary, essential film. I love that term; essential film. In a world (movieland) where superlatives are tossed around like penny candy, that one cuts through the din. Thanks for that.
