Good morning. After a few nice ones, rain today (but very warm), prolly same tomorrow, and then a blast of cold and possible snow come Monday. Today's project was totalling medical expenses for 2015 (getting ready for taxes). It seems my bike crash cost me 542,321 yen from June to December--that's 58 days in hospital (private room for maybe 52-53 of that), surgery, xrays & meds, plus post-discharge follow-up (mostly rehab, but some doc appts, tests/xrays, etc.). At 2015 f/x rates of 125/$1, that comes to a little over $4300. (I carry extra insurance--it'd've been 45% more without that.) Too bad I couldn't have spent that on cycling instead...

26 degrees F and going down toward 12 today. That's cold here. Supposed to be windy too which makes it worse. I suspect I'll have to have the gas heaters running to help out the heat pump.
On the up side the IRS approved my tax return so that refund should be in next week sometime. No need for a thread but for my birthday Monday I've decided to close the financial markets so I don't lose any more money there and give as many of you as possible the day off. Hope your bosses got the memo. Have a 3day weekend on me.

It's a wee chill about here today.
But I just read my favorite Mark Twain quote evah.
Diapers and politicians must be changed frequently, and for the same reason.

Morning
-5F right now, probably about 9F later but we are on a warming trend leading toward Monday being in the 30s.
Watched YouTube videos about metal detecting in Florida last night, air temp 70s and higher, water temp 70s and higher, bliss.
Work to do, best get to it.

Clear and kinda cold. Not uncommonly cold but it hasn't been a very cold winter so far.
Office work and moving stuff into a storage unit before tearing out more crappy old paneling in the basement.
Bruce -- thanks for trying to get me a day off, my line of work doesn't do three-day weekends. The bankers and state regulators I gotta deal with get the day off.
Have a serene Saturday one and all.

Working on some chord sheets for my chorus music. Then headed out to get crab legs for tomorrow's Valentine's dinner. We never go out on 2/14, but do for our anniversary a couple of weeks later.
Weather is unseasonably warm. Earlier this week Tucson set a record high of 85F. Not quite as warm here, but we have been in the mid-70s.

We’re in the mid 70s here too, but only because I haven’t gone outside yet.

I took my day off to go up to Goshen. I picked up some supplies at a new clay supply store there and this weekend there was a jam at the market. So I packed in my guitar and when I got to Goshen I played a few hours of old-timey music. I'm a bit rusty on the tunes but enjoyed myself.
Jim just got in several spruce tops from Alaska and he's anxious to use them. The story is that they're rather old wood -- some company got permission to go into Alaska's panhandle and harvest some deadfall. Jim says it might be the stiffest, lightest spruce he's ever handled. He's also building a small Gibson L type -- I didn't realize it but he STILL has some of that figured cherry he built his Weissenborn and two other guitars from. It's going to be the old Gibson L shape (round lower bout) but with a cutaway.
Additionally, he's building an OM with zircote back and sides.
I stopped by the clay supply and then made my way home via country back roads, enjoying the sun, the blowing, drifting snow, and the van's heater turned on high.
