I've had at least a couple of ex teachers working for me. One was very clever, hard working and bright. He left teaching because he felt it would be good to support his family instead. I'll bet he was an excellent teacher. The other ran from, or was forced from, teaching because he was unable to gain the attention and respect of his middle school class. He was also bright but not quite as hard working. He never really gained my respect either. As far as I know, they are both still employed there though they may have reached retirement age.

No, I'm saying that people who go into teaching, by and large, do so because they are called to teach. Those same people, in large measure, will tell you that their singular frustration in their profession is dealing with the endless, soul-crushing bureaucracy inherent whenever government is involved. Damn! Have you taught before? You are so correct, sir! Been married to one for a long time. The insanity they deal with daily is just breathtaking.

Well, now that Marty or Todd has deleted that post, this all just seems silly.

Well, now that Marty or Todd has deleted that post, this all just seems silly. Your latter phrase did not require its antecedent.

Your latter phrase did not require its antecedent. Now you're just showing off your big words. Uncle Cedent was in the Navy.

Now you're just showing off your big words. He's gearing up to try to rebuff Letson. I pity the poor guy who had to buff him in the first place.

He's gearing up to try to rebuff Letson. I pity the poor guy who had to buff him in the first place. Don't look at me--I'm in the outer office with Roth, waxing the Dean. (And I resist all buffing, preferring to remain my rough, unpolished, unvarnished self.)

34 years of teaching under my belt. Next Summer I will tell how year 35 was.
