The kind of points you make about the 97% arguments to the public are found in science circles and publications over recent years. They are falling out of favour in various quarters. There was a piece about the debate over how to communicate the issues to the general public, focussing on the 97% stuff in Scientific American that I re-read a while back. I have to go out now.
