if you own a slope Gibson, you're legally obligated to write a protest song from time to time. Such songs are in the guitar's DNA and have been since the days of Woody and Cisco. This came out of the J-35 when I wasn't looking.
"Not in My Town" was inspired by a line uttered by a community activist in Charlottesville; when asked in an interview about the planned demonstration by white supremacists, she said, "Not here. Not in My Town." There's your song right there.
It is a protest song, so I kept it simple....

Cool. Love it musically. Lyrically I love the recurring refrain. A little wordy at times in the verses. But solid sentiment.
I was waiting for a bridge. But it really doesn't need it.
