You are old when you remember going to the movies and watching Jerry Lewis.

He and I shared a birthday, though he had it first, by 21 years.

If it wasn't for his Labor Day gig, I would have never heard of him.

As children, we loved the Martin & Lewis movies. I thought Jerry Lewis was the funniest actor ever. It was always a disappointment in those films when they'd stick in a Dean Martin vocal number like That's Amoré. I wanted more funny stuff. When Jerry and Dean split up the comedy duo I was really angry at Martin. As a kid I thought they should just go on for the rest of their professional careers.
As it turned out, I don't think I ever saw a Lewis film that didn't include Martin. I did see films in which Martin appeared and grew to like his vocals a lot.
R.I.P. Jerry.

Well, God bless his zany soul. I loved him, as a child. Me being the child, that is. RIP Mr. Lewis.

I remember Saturday afternoon movies and Lewis films were a favorite. Remember The Bellboy.
RIP Jerry.

He was more amazing as a director/cinematographer and probably the 2nd best mime. Enjoyed his career. another one done, sad to see, RIP Mr. Lewis.

Seemed it was on all 3 channels.

You have to have something going for you to make a living in show business for as long as he did. I wonder if he left behind instructions to destroy all the prints of "The Day the Clown Cried." en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Day_the_Clown_Cried
