I want to see that diamond. As usual, he was really coming in from left field. Like Kimmel said, it takes a level of intelligence to be liberal, a fairly low level. No, that's David. He's a smart guy. I suspect he thought that "right field fence" meant the out of bounds line on the side of right field. Since I'm not sure that has a name (because it's not a "thing" on all baseball diamonds -- I played on plenty in high school that were open down both right and left field baseline/out of bounds. I'm guessing David was picturing leaning against the bullpen wall on the right field side of a major league diamond and calling that the "right field fence".

With that much thought going into a way to make his statement correct, you could be Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

The North Korean Charm Offensive is ... offensive. In as much, as most of the media is swallowing the Potemkin effort whole without gagging at all. Amazing.
The North Korean Charm Offensive, however, might be a great name for a rock'n'roll band.

Pence did screw up. He should have given her that big “I’m saved and you’re not” smirk, shook her hand and whispered “get rid of your nukes or we’ll #@! blow you and your #@!! Olympic team into little pieces”.

Well that was unexpected.
Kind of like the septic tank backing up into the basement.

I can see where this guy is coming from. I think many of his observations are accurate: Limbaugh's overstatement of "Climategate" is probably accurate (though I haven't actually researched it), and I think that his following statement is also accurate:
Over time, this leads to what you might call tribal epistemology: Information is evaluated based not on conformity to common standards of evidence or correspondence to a common understanding of the world, but on whether it supports the tribe’s values and goals and is vouchsafed by tribal leaders. “Good for our side” and “true” begin to blur into one.
Now tribal epistemology has found its way to the White House.
But I believe that this "tribal epistemology" is not new with Trump: It has long been the case for both parties. I think it might have hit a new high with Trump, but it is not new.
I agree with Jeff, that the balance of power between cities and rural areas are part of the design of the constitution, and it is supposed to work that way.
What I do not grok is that, in my humble opinion, Trump honors the dollar above all else, yet it is the monied or most industrialized geographic areas (according to David Roberts) that dislike him.

I think it might have hit a new high with Trump, but it is not new. And I think what's amazing to those of us on the right is that this author truly believes he's on to something....as if we haven't been shouting this for years. But the irony is that the author is so completely blind to his own tribalism that he remains blithely unaware of having written a condemnation of his very world view. Another irony is that the press that his tribe would be willing to even consider reading/listening to/following is reading this screed of his and accepting it as a sort of soft praise at their willingness to be objective -- not because they are objective, but because they don't see the tribalism evident in their own reporting any more than he does. So, he's calling them (the press) liars and willing accomplices in the death-dual for the existence of civilization as we know it...and they're not offended because they perceive that he's still at least part of their tribe and means well. But if I, on the other hand, point out that in their honesty they are merely partisan, THAT the press both denies and takes offense at.

You should find a good agent.

Not so my friend. You made me laugh this AM and for that you will always have my sincere thanks and gratitude. . Now I go to spend the day with my granddaughters and will think about left/right-up/down-guns/butter, Martin/Taylor no more today.

In the spirit of my earlier post, and to the point of exactly which side has abandoned traditional institutions, yesterday gave us this:

As we used to say in response to such things back in the old schoolyard, "I know you are but what am I?"
