Your shoes look like they’re tied tight. I usually keep mine just loose enough that I can slip them on and off without tying. So how’d you manage to tie your shoes without noticing that they didn’t match? And please don’t tell me you’re one of those contortionists that can tie shoes, neck ties and fishing lures behind your back under water with your eyes closed. I get jealous of those people. Being old means it is quite easy to look at something and not see it. Or see it as something else entirely. There are also voices, but let’s move on.

I never cease to amaze myself at what escapes my notice. I guess I spend half the day up inside my empty head running on basic motor function mode with cognizance and analytics in sleep mode. I'm still functioning pretty good at work but all other sensory input gets decimated down to manageable data packets so as not to overload the motherboard.

Alan is easy to identify. He's the guy with mis-matched shoes.

Tim Conway's "oldest man" walk used to really crack me up ... until I noticed it was taking longer and longer for me to get from one place to another.

Another old guy thing: About six years ago I started working crossword puzzles. It wasn't really for fun. My theory was that if it started getting harder to solve them, my mental acuity might be deteriorating.
I still do them. I've gotten faster at solving them, not slower. But there are a lot of clues relating to movies, TV and popular music I've never heard of. Those clues are a daily reminder that the world has passed me by.

Not at that time but later in the day Faithful Wife was on my ass about my shirt being tucked into my underwear again.

Mr. H did an old guy thing last night. I'm thinking I shouldn't tell him because it will just make him feel bad. After getting home from dinner last night, I pulled the car into the garage. The garage security light didn't come on as soon as it normally does, so he decided to walk around and check all of the lights while I went on into the house. I'm usually the first one up in the morning and I have a habit of looking out the windows. You guessed it. The garage door was still open. I took a quick look and nothing seems to be missing. So I closed the door. It's comforting to know that the security lights all work.
