Just when everything looks better, you get hit with a perfect storm of shit from all sides. It would take too long to list all the crap that went wrong but suffice it to say Murphy's Law is alive and well and working overtime.
No. 1 daughter called today and is ready to throw in the towel on the company. She is entertaining killing it and starting another from the ashes. It just hit me: Phoenix Land Surveying.
Anyway, I told her to do whatever she thought best even though as I am the sole owner all the shit will rain down upon my head. I told her to find the best lawyer she could and lets choose our medicine: Kill it; Chapter 11; Chapter 13; whatever.
I can see some upset people burning up my phone but I don't know what I can do about it. I worked just about every day since 1998 when I bought it so if it fails I know it wasn't because I didn't try. I could have been smarter and tougher but it's not like I drank or drugged or played while we sank. Sometimes shit just happens.
I will keep you posted.

Good luck Alan. I've been there. After a very successful run for about six years, including some nice awards, I had to pull the plug on an alternative newspaper I started in D.C. in the late '70s. My only regret is not pulling it sooner. But of course every situation is different.

Alan,
From your posts here, you have always obviously given it your most/best. I don't think there's a person that could have tried harder.
I wish you the best of luck with the tail end of this.

Just make these decisions with a clear head, the facts, and maybe a professional outside opinion. Sometimes you can feel beat down and fed up with things which makes the situation appear worse than it really is.
Best of luck

Yeah, baby dottir would say "First World Problems". No biggie. My health is pretty good for 66 and I have professional licenses so I shouldn't lack for work. I'm not bitchin or complaining- just want to keep you guys posted because every now and then one or two of you know some shit that might could help.
Just think of those in the caravan. Things are so bad at home where all your friends and family are that you take your kids by the hand and start walking north for 2000 miles. Now that is a problem.
Killing Dale Stockstill & Associates or going in to Chapter 11 isn't really a problem in the big scheme of things.
Take care mi amigos

Good luck Alan. I watched my ex wife crater her business about 15 years ago. It brought about our divorce. I had to refinance the house three times to get out from underneath the debt we acquired for her financial shenanigans. I am still paying for it.
My total was about a quarter million, not too shabby for a teacher.

That just sucks Alan. At times like this im reminded of The Life of Brian.
Always look on the Bright Side of Life.
