It’s not my going that has me concerned
It’s my leaving John behind
‘Cause if there’s one Earthly thing that I have learned
It’s that folks take a liking to the smiling kind
And I was born the smiling kind
So, it doesn’t really matter where I might land
Whatever the next gate I walk through
It’s just my way to enter in smiling, and
I’ll be encircled by new friends too
I’ll be circling new friends too
But I’m a just a little worried (‘cause I know him well)
That John might forget how to smile
He depends so on mine, and at farewell
We’re going to be apart for at least a while
And he might forget how to smile
We’ve still got this time. I can still do some training
With every smile I’ll remind him life’s good
I’ll make him laugh through each day remaining
Then, with our friendship so well understood
I’ll remind him again that life will be good
