I can't either. If Biden sinned, punish him. That's not a defense for Trump. Meanwhile- every now and then even Twitter is 1000% correct: @charlesppierce- I think we all should take a step back and ponder the fact that the president* of the United States just admitted in a court finding that he’d looted a charity. I would “like” this post except it is really sad and depressing. Mike

Off topic but not worth opening a new thread: Bloomberg? Really?
Isn't he a rich, old, white guy who bought his 3rd term as Mayor which had a 2 term limit? He's a CEO, I guess and he changes party as the breezed blow. I guess maybe he's a Democrat's Trump. Maybe he's the best shot they have at beating Trump. Apparently he thinks so.

The US needs to complement the age 35 minimum with a 65-70 yr old maximum. Apply it the same way that 35 is applied.

Don't really care about him, but as long as we're off topic I heard somewhere that Cocaine Mitch sat Trump down and gave him some advice on surviving the current shit storm. 1. Ignore what's going on in the House and let it go. In other words, shut up. And 2. Start working on legislative priorities in the Senate with Senators. In other words, flip the script. He told Trump if he does that, they'll never get a 2/3 vote. And coincidentally, a trial in the Senate will take 6 or so weeks where every Senator will be mandated to be permanently present. And not campaigning. In Iowa and New Hampshire. And, if Schiff's time table continues to slide, maybe all the way out to Super Tuesday. That takes 6 of the top Democratic contenders out of the running. Damn near a perfect storm.

Consider this a gentle reminder to keep it civil.

I read the thing about Bolton. It sounds like he is practically begging to testify. He just wants to be subpoenaed. Whether it is for personal cover, or because he wants it to be clearly legal and by the book, or whether he just wants proof that the Democrats are willing show they are really serious about getting this impeachment deal done before he puts his ass in cross-hairs, or if it is something else entirely, I don't know. But, it is clear, Bolton is interested in testifying, so do it, subpoena him. The reasons for not doing so strike me as extremely lame. All my knowledge of this is based on this article, but it is what it is, and here it is: Bolton Some selected passages from the article:

WTF!
What's another delay and court proceeding! So? Get going on it. Get it done. You want the good stuff? Go get it! It sure sounds like Bolton may be just the guy they want. He may or may not be nuts, but he has integrity and he sticks to his principles.
(and maybe Bolton has been right. There is no doubt that Iran sabotaged everything good we tried to get done in Iraq, and the bombers Iran equipped and trained took out a lot of American lives and limbs. Maybe Tehran should have received a few regime changing bombs as well, as Bolton lobbied for. Iran actually has the pieces in place for a secular government, unlike the mess Iraq.
Or maybe Bolton was and is nuts and we would have been in wars up to our eyebrows (like we haven't been? Only without coherency or good effect?) . But, whatever, Bolton has been clear and unwavering in principle and intent, nuts or not. So, clear the decks. Let him testify. It will be fascinating.

It is looking like maybe Guliani should start looking for a dry cleaner that’s good at getting tire tracks off sport coats.

Quoth the epaul:
I don't think there's any question he wants to testify. For one thing, he strikes me as the type that would like to let a type like Trump (on so many scores) have it right between the eyes.
He would like the political cover of being seen as a reluctant witness, which a court order would provide. But an order also would allow him to put on the record a lot of stuff he's probably prohibited by a non-disclosure agreement from talking about otherwise. I've seen it reported he wants to do a tell-all book, which I presume would benefit from such legally sanctioned disclosure.
In any case, despite the committee's alleged reluctance to fight a subpoena in court (could they just be playing with him?), I'm pretty sure he'll wind up testifying, maybe before different committee.
Trump should be very afraid of Bolton spilling his innermost thoughts. But, on the other hand, maybe he's not scared at all. His record is full of instances where he's done something that everybody but him knew was wrong

Everyone waiting with rapt anticipation of a Bolton testimony that could sink Trump has never once in the history of time believed anything Bolton ever said before.

Will Bolton agree that Russia was framed for intervening in the 2016 election by Ukraine and the DNC?
Some House GOPs are openly supporting this claim.
Or, will Bolton make even a little bit of sense?
Who to believe?
‘Tis a conundrum.
