This would be in the running for my favorite song of all time. I don't have Brigatti's vocal range, and I'm reminded of that every time I try to sing it. But even that doesn't stop me. I've come up with a reasonably good arrangement for guitar and I play it often. I can remember a Christmas 5-10 years ago when my whole family -- nieces and nephews and all -- were gathered in a rented hotel banquet room. I started playing and singing it in a small circle that included my brother and sister. But by the time I got to "How's the weather...", the whole room was inartfully singing it at the top of their voices. One very happy memory.

Probably 20 some years ago a guy showed up out of the blue at an open mic my friend Al and I ran. It was Dave Stoddard a former grand prize winner at Kerrville. He had just recently moved to our area as his wife got a great job in Fergus Falls. He blew us away and we all became good friends.
David is an amazing writer, pianist, guitarist, and songwriter. He writes a lot of hilarious parodies but as a sucker for waltz time this, I think, is my all time favorite.
Here he is doing it with Beth Woods, and another version at Creek House.

Even if you don't want to embarrass yourself singing bad french, this makes a very fine fingerstyle guitar piece.

Oh, that is lovely, Terry. I gotta learn that to teach to my sister.

Weird song/video. But anything CS does is great.

I played this from my Michigan friends in August. The initial sigh from them was audible.

Something similar happened in my living room at one of the Rosejams, when for some reason I started playing "Happy Together" and everyone joined in with great gusto. Good times ...

Here's one that started out in 3/4:
Did you know "Manic Depression" by Jimi Hendrix isn't on Youtube? Strange. It was the first 3/4 song that came to mind.

Thanks for posting that, JohnB -- I had no idea there was a 3/4 version, but I sure love what they wound up with.

I'll spare you the groaner joke whose punchline is "You took a fine time to leave me, loose wheel."
