By request- The Water is Wide (original Norwegian version)
The water is wide, I cannot get o'er Neither have I wings to fly Give me a boat that can carry two And both shall cross my true love and I
I built my boat from a mighty tree Meaning to float my love and me But the boat rode low and began to sink And so I threw my love in the drink
Oh love is handsome, and love is sweet But I can not abide wet feet When a boat for two can float but one Then a man must do what must be done

I had 22 more verses, but these are all I was able to pull out of the dust bin.

The song is even more lovely when sung in Norwegian, as it was originally intended -

Todd, Dave, Dons, what say you? Can we do that song, in Norwegian, next gig? It's so beautiful they might even not charge us for singing it.

Gorgeous rendition and photography. This song was going to be the theme for the Spring concert that never happened of the chorus that I was going to join.

Thanks, Renee. But I didn't have any photos. But, the lyrics did a nice job of creating the images, didn't they.

Oops. Was talking about Rick's version, but both are excellent.

Mr. Epaul Tandberg mesmerized those gathered in a Vinton church sanctuary years ago with his plaintive rendition of this classic tune, which included deep, insightful and poetic revisions to the original lyrics. Might you still have those words, Paul, that you might share with us? I very much remember this. It was the same year Cornflake sang Catboys, and had Mrs. Epaul laughing so hard she was bawling.

Nicely done, Rick. You gave it new life. Thanks, John. I love doing it, just the satisfaction of putting it together. But having people listen is the icing on the cake.

The water is wide Song is beautiful and the lyrics are changed a lot. it started a long time in 1600 at Scotland. The first one was actually a different name “O Waly, Waly
The old Wikipedia has a long article Variants, Lyrics, Versions, Renditions, Popular Cultures,
And Rick thanks for the thread and the version

Very nice work, Rick. I want to go visit some of the places in the video. The sailboat shots are in Aruba. All the rest are in BC, Tofino, Vancouver, and Parksville. It’s a beautiful country. Please tell me that the brick building appearing around .40 in is #1 Open to the public, and #2 serves beer...

Forget that, I’m not going that far for a beer and dinner. I may have to take a video editing lesson from you.
