"It seemed to me then—it has always seemed to me—that there are people whom you recognize intuitively as your enemies. And most of the time, as in the case of Yardley Acheman, they recognize you. And even if nothing is ever said or done, the animus is there from the first moment you walk into the same room.
'I suppose we’re natural enemies,' I said." —Pete Dexter, The Paperboy

Actually, a round of enemas might be an appropriate fate for Rudy, and after all, the enema of my enemy is my friend.

I heard Mr Giuliani was life-flighted to Walter Reed Pool and Spa Supply.

What's the over and under on this? I have no love loss over Giuliani. But I don't wish him any ill, (in a health realm. In a political realm he should get the Zombie virus, . . . , if he doesn't have it already)

Three states in the last few days swarmed by maskless admirers hugging and taking selfies. Our own Typhoid Mary.
Mary Mallon (September 23, 1869 – November 11, 1938), also known as Typhoid Mary, was an Irish-born cook believed to have infected 53 people with typhoid fever, three of whom died, and the first person in the United States identified as an asymptomatic carrier of the disease. Because she persisted in working as a cook, by which she exposed others to the disease, she was twice forcibly quarantined by authorities, and died after a total of nearly three decades in isolation.

Giuliani had recently met at length with a room full of maskless Arizona legislators who deny Biden's victory here. As a result of Giuliani's positive test, our legislature has been shut down. Most of us feel safer when that happens.
Meanwhile, our GOP is having an internecine war between the traditional conservatives led by the governor and the hardcore Trump supporters led by the party's state chair. The hardcore folks are lambasting the governor for certifying the election result. Apparently they're moving to recall him. On Twitter the two groups are telling each other to STHU and exchanging insults of various sorts. You might think that a Democrat would enjoy such a spectacle but I don't.

You know, enemies. Like the press and other "enemies of the people." I can't remember who said that, but it was someone. That's the guy we look to for our standard of behavior now? For a large section of the country, yes indeed.

The splintering and the new "war within the GOP" isn't just in AZ. It's happening all over the U.S. as T****licans battle the republicans that are putting country over fantasyland. Charlie Sykes latest podcast at the Bulwark is a compelling listen.
