To lose a brother is to lose a part one's self. My heart aches for your loss.

Russell, this news is very distressing and I am terribly sorry your family has endured this loss. Sending sincere condolences from Kings County, and I am saddened that this virus ravages one from our group again. I hope you get through this with the love and support of family and friends, including the ones you have right here.

So sorry to hear this. COVID has come home to many of us. It's OK to be angry.

Will you be traveling down there, Russ? And if so, flying or driving?

All being done by remote-control. Eventually there will be some kind of interment, probably at one of the national cemeteries, with our parents. (Tim was custodian of their ashes and never got around to making arrangements--not that the folks were in any hurry. They're together in a nice vessel.) We survivors are all geriatric and scattered across the continent. No flying for me until the plague is good and controlled, and I'm beyond the age when a multi-day drive is prudent.

"Did I mention that I'm pissed at Florida politicians?"
You have reason to be.

My sincerest sympathies on your loss, Russell. No telling what strain of the virus he might have picked up overseas or in Florida. Hope they take the effort to figure it out. We need that kind of information. May he rest in peace.

Thanks, Bruce. One of the items on the to-do list is to ask the two hospitals where he was treated whether they determined the strain he had--and also whether they're doing contact-tracing to warn people he encountered while he was viremic. The speed with which the disease progressed (in a healthy 54-year-old) suggests to me that one of the virulent strains is a possibility. Or that he really did pick it up overseas last year and this was a second infection, which I read can be a knockout.
