A high school friend flew Harriers for the Marines. During the Falklands war he was on loan as a trainer to the Royal Air Force. Irked him no end that he could train other guys but couldn't go into action himself. Eager to kill soneone, was he? Mike

My brother had a friend called Guy. A little oddly he preferred to be called Guido. He had wanted to fly jet planes all his life. He managed to charm the right people and in the end got to realise his ambitions in the RAF. He left the service as soon as he was able, satisfied to have been trained as a Harrier pilot but not flown combat missions. The last time I saw him he was a Woodcraft Folk Group Leader and I was helping out at a camp. Sitting round a campfire with kids singing Guantanamera. Guido became a Buddhist monk. Not sure where he is now.
