Hot and humid out there and Simon still refuses to come in. I put a bowl of water on the front porch for him and check on him every once in a while.

"Phew! Bloody hot. 40.2°C, (104.36°F) in London. Britain/Britons not very well equipped to comfortably cope with it."
Today I was listening to a British journalist reporting on this from London. It sounds pretty awful. She said last night was the hottest night on record so no one slept very well.

Ancient joke: UK newspaper headline: "70 degrees again today. No relief in sight."

Not sure what the humidity was on my way to work, but we had heavy fog/haze under sunny skies. All the windows were covered with condensation.

Ancient joke: UK newspaper headline: "70 degrees again today. No relief in sight." Well, 158 degrees Fahrenheit would be kind of uncomfy.

The joke predates Euro-style measurements.

It sounds pretty awful. She said last night was the hottest night on record so no one slept very well. I asked Google the temperature at 5:00am this morning/last night and it was 77°F. It was warmer in some other cities I usually tolerate it quite well and have known hotter on my travels but it helps to be a bit more acclimatised.

32 Celcius (90F) here with 33% humidity. Probably not smart for an unacclimated, overweight, 67 year old man to be trimming hedges and mowing his grass, but it had to get done. I had a hair cut today, so I thought that would be a great help, but it was not. I was quite dizzy a couple times after bending over to pull weeds. So I did not give the yard the full treatment.
I am now safely sitting in an air conditioned room and replenishing liquids.

If you use C or F then you don't have to spell those hard-to-spell words.

Some of us welcome a challenge.
