Rain today, so actually a little cooler, tho no biking. Wife's cooking. Did some pushups, showered, and now sipping my daily ration of a can of beer.

This is my Sunday off. Later today I'm going to a cookout with the family that bred IceSha and who has IceSha's brother HC (The breeder is a huge fan of muscle cars and therefore uses muscle car names for the pedigree names. Hence: IceSha is Cobra 500GT and HC is Hellcat. I call them Fire and Ice) Basically, a playdate for the dogs with food for the humans.

Recording day today. Eric and I will try to record a version of Robert Johnson's Malted Milk. Especially since the Clapton Unplugged angle seems to be getting traction. We may also get around to doing another version of Police Dog Blues. I was never happy with the last version we did. So we'll see how it goes.

Up and awake. Happy to see it's cooler today than yesterday. We have band practice for our private gig next week. My guitar teacher is sitting in on this and our next gig. He's making me learn some of our songs properly, the bastard.

Turfed out of bed too early this morning by a smoke alarm's low-battery chirp. Since we now have seven of the things*, it took a while to track down the offender, by which time I was fully awake, and the cats demanded breakfast. The Sunday geezer jam will keep me awake through the afternoon, so I may turn in earlier than my habitual 1 a.m. tonight.
* Getting new basement windows three years ago meant that the city's alarm codes could be applied to our 1928 house, which meant five additional smoke detectors plus an additional CO detector. The damn things never seem to start warning chirps during the day.

On my route yesterday I delivered mail to the Schnackenbergs and the Gackenheimers.
Used in a sentence:
I started to choke on my Schnackenberg, but thankfully a friend grabbed me, performed the ol' Gackenheimer, and saved my life.

Good morning
64F-81F cloudy to partly cloudy.
Usual Sunday stuff except old friends will be joining us for breakfast before shopping.
EDIT: Make that old friends and granddaughters. Why is it that two grown girls with jobs get to invite themselves to breakfast and then make me pay for it. I'd bring the point up but on stuff like this I learned years ago that ' I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't". Being the only male in a house full of women I also learned to " Choose your battles".

Sunday. It's gonna be a cool quiet day, no plans for anything special. I really need to spend some time with the guitar and bass, if I can get motivated.
And, if I really get motivated I need to get out the string trimmer and do some trimming.
Or, maybe I'll just fire up the Sportster and go cruise some back roads.

Good morning. I woke up at 5:00 and worked the interminable LA Times Sunday crossword puzzle. Then I went to a nearby community garden. The recent rain has made the vegetables perky and the flowers profuse. There were lots of lovebirds feeding on the sunflower seeds and butterflies feeding mostly on milkweed.
We'll have company for dinner. I'm supposed to smoke a chunk of brisket today. Since we may get a downpour I'll be prepared to finish it in the oven if need be. It works.
Enjoy your day.

We did Mel Lamar’s funeral yesterday. The guitarist I posted about a while back. A group of musicians he had played with over the years came and jammed in various combinations after.
Some really good stuff went down. It was a rush.

Just hopped in the car so my wife can drive me to SAMW Week 2. A week with old friends and their guitars at Lake Geneva camp on the big lake. I have given up trying to spell it. A wunnerful time will be had by all with a lobster roll about mid week. A favorite part of my year.

I just wake up at about 9 AM
I just did my prayers and my reflections.
I like where I live. I’m still lucky vertical and more. This is a incredibly weird place. There’s damaged people and dementia. There are some normal people. And there’s no violence and it’s usually quiet.
I like Sunday & the newspaper. Solitude and MUSIC
I don’t have the flu19 now
And it’s Halle Berry’s birthday!

“ out of bed too early this morning by a smoke alarm's low-battery chirp.“
Happened to us just a couple of days ago, our bedroom unit started chirping at ten pm. And in the new house the stupid things are hardwired. Turns out even the hardwired ones use a battery for backup, and apparently they last only about two years. It was highly annoying. By resetting it I managed to silence it until 5 am the next morning. I was at Ace hardware buying batteries by 7. Modern conveniences, phooey.

Speaking of choosing battles, Marty, somehow we ended up with another kitten last night.
Todd, I am so sorry it apparently couldn't wait until my Vinton trip. I'll be writing the girls a check to assuage my guilt.

Marty, Mom was picking up the tab for brother and his wife even after Mom was living on Social Security. I don't get it either, but I also never brought it up.
Back from church and a stop at Trader Joe's. Looks like dinner will be artichokes followed by chicken cilantro mini wontons and a bottle of Espiral Vinho Verde. All from TJ's. Perhaps some carrot sticks to pretend we're eating healthy.
