36°F in Brooklyn this morning.
Tonight is the first night of Hannukah. The traditional foods are potato pancakes (served with applesauce or sour cream or yogurt for we modern types) and jelly doughnuts (why doughnuts I have no clue, but I ain't complaining).
Just down the street from us is "the world's largest menorah" (it's taller than the Soldiers and Sailors Arch, by Jehovah!), placed there courtesy of the local Lubavitcher sect. Google them.
I guess I am a minority here on the Soundhole, eh? Happy Hannukah, regardless.
Howard, CBS Sunday Morning did a piece on the jelly donuts (actually a Bismarck) and the whys and wherefores. Couldn’t get it to copy, but it is out there. Making cookies today, and then back to making microphones.

I decided today would be a good day for laundry, so I am still in PJs. Actually I changed out of PJs into different PJs so I could wash the first set. Yesterday we went out with friends for a trip to Indy CD and Vinyl, then up to Carmel (fancy section of Indy, but pronounced like the candy and not the "by the sea" town) for a fancy tapas-style lunch/dinner at Divvy followed by a frickin'-cold jaunt to the Carmel Christkindlmarkt. I even took my first "0.5 selfie" which apparently is a thing with the young kids. Even though it was really windy (and therefore cold), the snow flurries and gentle aroma of raclette cheese made it a wonderful experience. I bought a bunch of Christmas vinyl yesterday, in a futile attempt to justify the purchase of the turntable a few years back. However, I'm really digging the album "Socks." by J.D. McPherson. Rock-solid new music that sounds like it came from a very cool decade some years ago. I recommend checking out a copy via whatever way you get music. On edit: a marzipan pig from Christkindlmarkt, just before I et it. It's not squirrel, but then again, it all tastes like marzipan.

Back from Brunson's, where the Bloody Mary was garnished with lemon, cheese curd, olive, two pickled green beans and a mini-gherkin. They use my fave Lovejoy mix, and were fine with my request to make the beer chaser a Salvator Bock, so good.
Soup of the day was a Creole pork/shrimp stew, which was excellent, and I brought home a pound of their "wings," which are bone-in thighs, actually. Split the order between maple/soy and dry rub, looking good for later.

Toggling between the Chicago and Detroit games, with the latter fulfilling my weekly quota of a network sportscaster using the term "flustrated."
Must be an insider broadcaster thing.

In the department of productivity department, I changed my strings today. Fun fact: strings have a built in indicator for when it’s time to change them. When the wound strings start turning black, it’s probably time.
Other fun fact: Marty’s string winders work great. In a day or three when the new strings settle in, my guitar should sound great.

A long time ago there was a bigger one hidden away in a Temple, along with a spear and an ark. People have been looking for them ever since. Was there a horn in there also Howard?

I went duck hunting today with a relative I had not visited with for many years, and seemed that I enjoyed the social aspect much more than the killing of a duck. I do not especially like the taste of wild duck.
It used to be that I had to have an activity associated with my visiting with friends and relatives. But, perhaps I am evolving. Or maybe it is just that I do not want to kill an animal that I do not want to eat.
I think I will go cattle hunting with a relative next week to test out the theory. I love the taste of a good cow.

The horn is a Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) thing. We live down the street from the big glass building in the background there.
There was a big lighting ceremony at sundown. Mayor Adams was there, too. Lots of music, noise and we stayed in and warm.
