Quite a graduation for the 973 seniors at Evanston HS in Chicago. We sat through the whole thing. It was pulled off flawlessly. Quite an an accomplishment! So you did get to go in person? Earlier you said you wouldn't be able to. Yes, we got tickets. It was pretty cool. Third grandkid from the same HS. First grad was virtual, second outdoors in small groups and finally the big kahuna. 24 in my graduation class.

Went to DMV today to get my license renewed and "real ID," the stuff you need for travel within the US. But the real ID connection was down. Now all I have to do is take another morning off work to see if it will work next time!
On the happy news front, last night my Traeger style grill produced a delicious smoked chicken, smoked baked taters and smoked green (string) beans. Just set put Traeger chicken rub on the chicken, set the smoker for 225 and cook until the internal temp of the chicken hits 160, let it rest for 15 minutes. It is tender and juicy. chicken sammies for the week.

I'm happy to announce that my bandsaw if fully functional again. Never made it to the hardware store and instead searched through the drawers of old save screws and found ones that worked. Now the table is rock solid, the blade tracks beautifully and it runs much quieter. All it took was a good part of two days. It could use use some new guide blocks but I think I'm going to try to make some new ones from Wenge. That stuff is really hard and if it doesn't work I can always buy some steel, carbon or ceramic ones.

I did double Claypool routes today. 120 miles of driving. The countryside is coming to life. I approached this place and could already see the profusion of color from far off. Probably about five acres of wildflowers. The house in the distance is one that always reminds me of an Andrew Wyeth painting ... but not with all this color in the foreground.

John, Your first picture reminds me of the many, many hours I spent on a windrower, cutting rye grass, bent grass, blue grass, fescue, timothy, and wheat. Going around and around those fields in hot months, many at 12 hours a day for 20 to 30 days in a row, with machinery noises in my ears, dust in my nose and eyes, and dust clinging to my skin (before cabs and AC), plus the preceding month of hauling hay. It made me decide to work indoors for a career. Romantic photos of farming means many things to many people.

That's almost as large as my HS graduating class. We had just over 1,200 seniors graduate.
And congratulations to the graduate!
