Jay texted me that picture right away. He had gone to Riverjam, ane remembered Marshall.
Bill, Riverjam was one of the first gatherings, most likely in pre-Soundhole days. In Hills, Illinois, on the Illinois River. The banker guy lined it up. Sadly I can remember his name but if you think about it for a second you'll remember it, Bill. Could it possibly have been 20 years ago?

Can’t remember exactly. Near Peoria I think on the Illinois River?
Robbyjoe, Bob Watkins, held it. Todd came. Millring came. Chicago Bob came. At least 15 years ago.

It might have been in Henry, IL. North of Peoria.

Could it possibly have been 20 years ago? RobbyJoe, great guy -- on one of my road trips to NC, he put me up and arranged a gig for me at a tavern with a nice deck overlooking the river. I remember driving up to the place and seeing my name on the marquee, well, almost my name: TONIGHT BILL HAMOND

That’s the same deck we had Riverjam on. Right on the river.
Bob Watkins came to an Idiotjam, or Rosejam with his son.

Yes it is that same deck. I remember that story, Bill. Bob came to an Idiotjam with his daughter. I believe it was the first one, because we played at the Ozone and stayed at the Urbana Inn and Suites.

It might have been in Henry, IL. North of Peoria. THAT's the town, Henry. It was one of my better gigs, quite a few guitar players in the audience, very supportive. I recorded the whole thing on my minidisc thingie and when I got back home Barb commented how cool it was to hear a multi-hour gig from me, patter and all.

RJ? He and his son were both at IJ 2007, which was my first. I have photographic evidence.

I believe he had a son and a daughter. But I do remember his daughter, probably 11 or 12 years old at Idiotjam, eating breakfast with everyone Sunday morning at the Urbana Inn and totally thinking Dad this is like so lame get me out of here.

Here's a blast from the past: Chicago Bob, Robby Joe, and Marshal at Sandy's (anyone recall her surname? Havent' heard from her in years) gathering in Kansas City, April 2002.
Somewhere there's a photo of my kid and me that Marshall took, but I can't seem to find it.
Ha! Found it!
My son, Easy E, yours truly, and Robbie Joe at Sandy's, April 2002. Sandy's mom, I believe, in the background.

ArtSandy was her handle. That was the AG nationals in KC.
Remember how smoky that house was? Sandy and her hubby, and hubby’s mom lived there and smoked like chimneys indoors all the day long. I still cough thinking of the place.

Henry
I remember taking back country roads heading back home late Sat night. I came over a hill and there in the road was a big raccoon staring up at me with his shiny eyes in my headlights. No time to swerve. He bounced off the bottom of my car like a basketball dribble as I passed over him.
“sorry, dude.”

It was fall, and I remember white pelicans migrating their way south for the winter as we spent time there from daylihgt until dusk until dark. With an attentive audience of locals. It was just a great place to have a jam.

I know it was before Millring dragged me kicking and screaming to the TTT back in ‘04.
