I almost never watch local newscasts because they are so laughable, but I happened to have WCCO, the CBS affiliate here, on after the Travelers golf tourney ended, and kept it on cuz there were some weather alerts afoot. The demi-literate Hair Anchor reported that a train with tanker cars had derailed into the Yellowstone River in Montana today. A photo much like this one was on during his entire spiel, which he ended with "Cause of the derailment is unknown at this time." I'm guessing that the bridge collapsing might have been a strong factor, there, Hair Spray. Dub, do you perchance hold stock in Aqua Net? No, I sold it all when everyone began shaving their heads. I don't need to shave my head, my hair just vacates my head of its own accord.

I’m going to venture a guess here that Dub was disliking the collapse of the bridge and that it had nothing to do with your anchorman description. I, too, dislike that the bridge collapsed. He may have been disliking the anchorman but, since Dub is a pretty non-judgmental sort of guy, my money is on the bridge.

Erin and I had an absolutely awesome time with Howard today. The day started with waking up at 4:25am - thankfully someone in the house (our daughter) remember that we had to BE at the airport at 6, not LEAVE for the airport at 6:00. Uneventful flight, mass transit to the hotel, mass transit to Brooklyn and Retrofret. And Howard! I played a few guitars, Howard played a really incredible 1940 D-18, and then we went on a very cool walking tour of Brooklyn and Prospect Park. Dinner, ice cream and we're back at the hotel. Really fun day.

Howard is looking more and more like Jon Stewart these days! How cool it is that you all were able to gather.

Nightly fireworks only lasted about 5 minutes, one of my neighbors must not be at home.

It was most gratifying to finally meet John after 20 years of being virtual online buddies. And Erin is just a firecracker—erudite, smart, intrepid, great sense of humor. I thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon together and was pleased to be able to show them a little bit of our bubble here in Brooklyn and spend time getting to know each other a bit.
And that 1941 D-18... boy howdy! The price tag read $37,500.00, which is a heck of a lot less than the 1940 D-28 I played at TR Crandall a couple of months ago, priced at $135,000.00. However, I assume I'd still have been assassinated had I brought this one home, plus, it didn't seem to improve my playing any...
The D-18 was pretty darned clean for 83 years old, too! Tone and sustain up the ole yin-yang. And about the same weight as a bag of potato chips. Or maybe tortilla chips.
