Still kind of rainy, which makes for clean air. One of our daughters and hubby and two kids, 4 & 6, arrived from california about noon today for a week-long visit. The kids' english, which had been exclusively japanese a year and a half ago, has really blossomed. Sushi/sashimi tonight, bigger potluck thing tomorrow with more relatives over.

Looks like rain. I hope so. It’s very hazy which is either smoke, fog, or a combination of the two. Hey! New word. SMOG! I am surprised someone didn’t think of it before.
Have a nice Saturday.

Good morning.
65F-86F partly cloudy.
Up early for some reason but will make good use of it. I'll get down to the shop early and after that Me Darling Wife says we are going to Sam's Club before I buy her lunch.
Poor thing has had a tough week at work with two people either out sick or on vacation and an already short staff. She has put on Four 10 hour days and two 12 hour days this week. Yes she gets overtime pay but part of her job is to put up with really pissed off people that stupidly sent $40,000 to China for a seaside property in Mexico and blame the bank. She retires in a year so she is hanging in there no matter what.

Shabbat Shalom!
The AQI in New York this morning is down to 119, still unhealthy but way better than it was yesterday.
We get to go shopping for plumbing fixtures for the kitchen today, and a laundry session will be in order. I am sure to fit some guitar playing in there, too.
Tomorrow, Russell Letson is planning to be in town from Ashokan Guitar Camp, staying with our mutual friend Tom Crandall, so I may have the opportunity to visit with him for a while.
Wishing everyone peace.

Productive morning! At Speedway I mailed my mortgage payment, bought coffee and Chapstick and refueled the motorcar. Then off to Morelli's for eggs, milk and boxed wine. Then a scoot over to Sport Clips for a beard trim by the lovely and heavily tatted Tiffany. Home by 9:30, took my daily pills and it's all gravy from here. Hot and sticky but the air seems almost breatheable now.

Good morning. So far today I've trimmed a grapefruit tree so people won't collide with its low-hanging branches.
Wordle has me stumped at the moment. I'll see if a break will clear my mind.
Yesterday Diane and I had lunch at an out-of-the-way dive that serves soul food, which it appears to define as southern food in the broadest sense. They offer brisket. I asked the guy how it was made. They smoke it. He brought me a sample. I wound up buying a pound of it. Tonight's dinner will center around the brisket.
Enjoy your day.

I have the NASCAR qualifying from Chicago on the telly, and the announcers are really praising the course (and its setting, of course). The Cup cars will hit 160 mph on one of the straights.
The sounds are pretty intense, as one might expect.

It was quite pleasant in the low 70s when we did our walk this morning. We avoided the area where the HOA's tree pruners had disturbed a bee hive yesterday. Then Mr. H made his perfect eggs Benedict. We had no English muffins, so he used whole grain bagels, which worked great. Dinner will be something light. We have some pitas in the freezer and some grilled eggplant in a jar in the fridge. That might be it. Or maybe I'll follow the recipe on the jar and try making baba ghanoush.
I've finished my monthly review of our finances and need to pay some bills and look at Medicare claims. There will also be time for play.
AQI isn't something that I normally look at unless there's a reason, but made me look. We'll be in the good to moderate range today.

Dinner last night at "Brooklyn Trattoria" was excellent. We started with an anti-pasta of Clams and Mussels with Pancetta (Basil, garlic, shallots, white wine, and lemon, served with a small side of focaccia bread). I then had the Saffron Seafood Linguine (clams, mussels, and shrimp tossed with pancetta in white wine and shrimp broth). Yes, I love shrimp, clams and mussels. The broths in the anti-pasta and the main dish were delicious.
My friend had the special of breaded, fried, razor clams, mashed potatoes and asparagus. He said it was also delicious.
We shared a nice bottle of Sonoma-Cutrer Estate Chardonnay. On the way home we stopped at a grocery store and bought a pint of salted caramel ice cream. I dished it up, pouring about a spoonful, or less, of Irish whiskey over it. It too was delicious. You owe it to yourself to try a little Irish whiskey as an ice cream topping.
Great food, conversation and visit with an old friend.

Our AQI is listed as "Fair" today at 32. Temp is 75°F. Quite acceptable. "Moderate" here, at 83. Staying indoors. And not to nag, but remember to take advantage of the Recirculate setting of your vehicle's A/C controls.

Just back from my bike ride. Only twelve miles but it gets me moving. Replaced a sprinkler head this am that decided to give up the ghost. And I mowed the lawn, too. Grilling hot dogs for dinner later by special request.

Back from six days in Nebraska with Pat’s mom in hospice. Had to come home to tidy up but back again when she passes. Probably next week for the funeral. Then most likely a third trip to go through the house. It’ll be a messy July with a lot of big sky ag land in the windshield.
