I also saw an orthopedic surgeon yesterday for my shoulder. She said I basically don't have a left shoulder. She also said that need a new shoulder but can't do the surgery as I only have one kidney left and it's about dead so I have to go with a shot every three month. Shot, ice or heating pad and pain pills.I now have a nice supply of Oxys as I can't do aspirin products.Actually I'd rather do the pills and shots instead of going through a big surgery at 76 years of age.

Yes. Tis good to avoid surgery. But it is a definite risk reward situation. Sounds like the reward could be quite good.

Job-related: At about 40 I left the shop floor and became a carpet-dweller. From 55 until retirement, I appreciated the wisdom of that decision. There were two guys I had worked with still in the shop, counting down the years and days until retirement. Their backs were shot, their ankles were shot, their knees were shot, their shoulders were shot. Me, I got stroll out on the floor with a stack of drawings and a pencil and say, "Build it like this." Go with your executive privilege.

They also never understood why I would pay someone $30 to change my oil while I never understood them paying someone $100 to do simple taxes.

I don't understand anyone paying $100 to do simple taxes, either. My minimum is much higher.

Sometimes people just died on the job. The jobs just used people up.
